We are building a modern finance organization, where quantitative methods are employed to generate actionable financial insights for MassMutual’s business leaders.  We seek an experienced financial leader to join our team. As a Financial Analytics Delivery Lead for the Financial Insights team, you will be working alongside interdisciplinary teams, including certified public accountants, actuaries, business analysts and leaders throughout the organization to design digitally enabled financial planning and analysis products.   In addition to leading cross-functional, project-based work, you will be responsible for managing a team of entry-level analysts, helping them to develop professionally.

The Delivery Lead will engage internal clients to identify business needs and design solutions.  The Delivery Lead will develop product roadmaps and have accountability for business outcomes.  Initiatives will cross business and organizational boundaries. The Delivery Lead is responsible for the overall health of multiple work cells utilizing both agile and waterfall project management methodologies. You’ll join a team of innovative, collaborative, and resourceful people who think differently, think big, and persevere through all challenges.

 

Key role responsibilities

Leadership and Development

  • Manage a team of 3-5 Finance Analysts
  • Develop Finance Analysts’ technical, project management, and communication skills
  • Ensure analysts have the ideal mix of exposure, experience, and education to develop new competencies

Analytics

  • Translate statistical analysis into business and operational insights
  • Create presentations for leaders of business and corporate units
  • Design dashboards in Tableau or other business intelligence tools
  • Synthesize analysis from the Visual Analytics and Advanced Analytics teams

Product Design and Development

  • Identify use cases for digital financial planning and analysis tools
  • Establish overall approach for the design of new and existing digital products
  • Develop vision from concept to detailed workable wireframes, diagrams, and functional design specifications
  • Ownership of product launch, training, and product support

Product and Project Management

  • Create product roadmaps and maintain detailed release plans
  • Coach teams on the use of Agile techniques, such as Scrum
  • Identify user stories for each client segment
  • Prioritize user stories to maximize value creation
  • Develop detailed product release plans, including required communication and training deliverables
  • Stewardship of the software development lifecycle

Customer Relationship Management

  • Partner with business leaders throughout MassMutual to identify use cases for decision support technology that can improve MassMutual’s financial performance
  • Develop deep knowledge of MassMutual’s various business units and functional areas
  • Manage trade-offs between various stakeholder

 

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience
  • 3+ years of project management experience
  • Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry, accounting, economics, and finance
  • Ability to synthesis analysis and present a compelling financial story through visualizations
  • Ability to lead and influence others
  • Familiarity with advanced analytics, including data science techniques
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Ability to seek guidance and learn new skills from peers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading and developing a team
  • Master of Business Administration or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Computer Science
  • Development of financial forecasting, analytics, or simulation software
  • Experience wire-framing software user interfaces and diagraming functional specifications
  • Experience as a product manager for business or consumer oriented products
  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity and formulate innovative and practical next steps
  • Entrepreneurial minded and driven self-starter
