- Analyze corporate financial performance and develop consolidated, unified storytelling
- Develop financial variance and trend analysis while also providing the “so what”
- Develop effective presentation material to communicate financial performance
- Interact with and deliver messaging to various internal and senior leadership audiences
- Provide linkages and counsel to internal customers on messaging and positioning across all internal and external financial communications
- Develop mechanisms to synthesize and analyze data and inform
- This role is an opportunity to have hands-on experience creating and executing financial analysis and messaging for our internal and external audiences.
The Team
The Financial Analysis & Communications Consultant is a member of the Financial Communications organization, which is a dynamic team of individuals with diverse backgrounds that are focused on:
- Serving as the single point of contact for all finance messaging and related analytics
- Ensuring insightful, compelling, unified storytelling, that is timely and transparent, in support of MassMutual's financial performance
- Developing an effective financial dialogue between executive leadership and internal / external stakeholders
The Impact
- Drives deep financial analysis and effective communications in support of MassMutual's financial performance
- Collaborates closely with various internal teams (Controllers/Investments, Actuarial, Strategic Finance Business Partners, broader FP&A and senior leadership, Corporate Communications) to educate and inform key audiences through financial messaging
- Serves as expert in financial analysis, life insurance and communications
- Establishes and enhances internal controls and maintain and consistently improve upon a strong control environment
- Focuses proactive on self and team development
The Minimum Qualifications
- BS in accounting or actuarial science; Master's preferred
- 7 years of experience; 4 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting and/or actuarial analysis
- Strong communications and presentation skills
- Knowledge of and/or experience in US GAAP and statutory accounting;
- General knowledge of visual data tools such as MicoStrategy or Tableau
- Proven experience participating in management meetings
- Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to adapt to change
- Strong desire to “roll-up sleeves”
The Ideal Qualifications
- Executive presence
- Strong communications skills, both written and presentation
- Deep life insurance industry knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and Statutory accounting
- Actuarial background
- Ability to proactively take ownership of projects and drive them through to completion
- Experience working in a Finance transformational setting; driving change and managing competing priorities
- Ability to perform independent research and prepare presentation materials
- Knowledge of financial presentation and data tools
- Detail-oriented with demonstrated oral and written communication skills
