Finance Manager at High Point, NC Site

Job Position:

The Finance Manager is the key player in the management and oversight of all compliance and accounting activities at High Point site. The role is responsible for all month end close activities, compliance, financial analysis, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial results. This role will lead and develop one direct report, as well as coordinating the activities performed by shared services and billing for the site.

The position will report to the Sr. Manager, Finance for High Point. In addition to the above, this role is also key in the reporting and interacting with external customers. Crafting and maintaining beneficial partnerships with company divisions, corporate accounting teams, vendors and suppliers acting as a true business partner to the site leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Works closely with finance business partners and key business leaders to drive financial objectives and support
• Lead the month end accounting close, including approval of journal entries, account reconciliations, review capital expenditure, maintain fixed assets system, and manual billing entries
• Review and analyze internal financial data to identify issues, opportunities and trends to provide business owners and senior leaders with financial analysis input that will drive decision making including project profitability, efficiency analysis, and return on investment
• Collaborate with Global Business Services and the Corporate Accounting and FP&A functions
• Implement and maintain an accurate control environment and culture to limit business risk and exposures.
• Ensure proper communication between Corporate, BU and Site financial communities for Intercompany transactions and allocations.
• Protects assets by establishing and monitoring internal controls
• Drive and lead the team to align with accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and Thermo Fisher accounting policy
• Support internal and external audits

Minimum Qualifications:

BS/BA in Accounting/Finance. Master's Degree Preferred

CPA Preferred

Experience:

5+ years of related experience with success in a manufacturing environment

Competencies:

• Solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting
• Proven track record to consistently work within fixed timeframes
• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with the ability to quickly grasp and apply analytical concepts
• Proactive communicator with excellent verbal and written skills. Must be capable of building strong relationships with colleagues
• Maintain the highest standards of accuracy and precision; meticulous, highly-organized and resourceful
• Exceptional work ethic, team mentality, positive demeanor, self-motivated, and excellent business partnering skills
• High Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required
• Hyperion/HFM/Cognos experience a plus
• SAP experience required
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Collaborative focus, with passion to help team achieve significant results
• Ability to work independently as well as part of an extended, cross-functional team
• Up to 20% travel
