As the Microbiology Division Finance leader for the North America operations finance teams, the Finance Director will hold responsibility for the divisions largest manufacturing site (Lenexa, KS), as well as the Ottawa, Canada manufacturing site. Working closely with the MBD Global Operations Finance Director, the role will lead the transformation of the manufacturing sites by ensuring global best practices are implemented and improvement strategies are delivered. This roll will have 4 reports and responsibility for a team of 12.

How will you make an impact?

You will work to build a world class manufacturing organization by developing and deploying strategic actions to improve both productivity and customer experience. You will be an integral part of the operations leadership team, partnering with supply chain, sourcing, site operations, and operational improvement leaders to drive critical metrics.

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

  • For the NA region, lead all aspects of cost of sales and inventory management processes. Establish efficient and effective processes and measure what matters in a way that provides appropriate real-time insights
  • Drive standardization and clear financial reporting to key site level and business level metrics (i.e. warranty, scrap, freight, productivity savings, lead times, E&O, Inventory, overhead, labor management). Ensure sound manufacturing execution and behaviors are applied by the plant operating teams
  • Transform current reporting process into a reporting platform that is seen as the best in the division, applying PowerBI to provide enhanced financial visibility and business partnering
  • Develop robust process and scorecards to provide understand to key savings targets, restructuring costs, investments and overall financial performance on execution of all Operations initiatives


Planning and Forecasting:

  • Oversee development of annual budget and periodic forecast requirements for NA Operations sites. Identify business risks and mitigating opportunities during the quarter to enable the delivery of financial targets in the annual operating plan
  • Improve forecast processes to ensure that financial commitments are met
  • Drive effective prioritization and value achievement on investments required to deliver on critical operations strategies and Corporate funded initiatives
  • Lead processes to align operating plans down to the lowest level required driving accountability at the point of impact and ensuring there is alignment at all levels of the organization


Business Partnership & Leadership:

  • Build, lead, mentor, and develop matrix operations analysts, creating a robust operations finance team
  • Apply a continuous improvement approach that allows the team adopt outside/in thinking that advances the organization's agenda
  • Lead critical initiatives across multiple functions and locations to improve operations profitability and achieve/outperform AOP goals
  • Provide strategic financial partnership and direction to the operations team, optimizing profit margins for all sites including footprint optimization, design for manufacturability, complexity reduction, sourcing, productivity, overhead cost management, inventory risk management, and capital optimization
  • Support the development and implementation of outstanding manufacturing strategies that will create clear advantage and improve customer experience.


Accounting & Controls:

  • Create robust cost controls, reporting, and accountability in the organization
  • Lead internal and external audit and work with management to develop remediation plans as vital
  • Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and corporate accounting policy and seeks guidance from Director, Finance in sophisticated situations
  • Improve processes with GBS team by aligning metrics and demonstrating standard methodologies
  • Enhance quarterly balance sheet reviews through continued engagement between site finance team and GBS team.


How you will get here:

  • Accounting/Finance Degree required
  • MBA or CMA/CPA preferred
  • 8+ years of dynamic relevant work experience within a global organization.
  • Great knowledge of US GAAP
