The Role

VMLY&R Commerce is a leader in end-to-end commerce and wants to stay at the cutting edge of commerce capabilities. The Products and Innovations team hold the responsibility of identifying areas of innovation, identifying solutions, developing products, and partnering with the growth teams to deploy them on business opportunities.

The Products and Innovation team is looking for a Finance Business Partner that can work with them on projects from inception to delivery by ensuring that good financial practice and governance is applied, from developing business cases for new innovations to applying accounting control governance, to developing pricing models for new products and services.
Key Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the Global Chief Commercial Officer and Global Chief Innovation Officer, help shape the Company's product strategy.
  • Be the go-to financial adviser to the Chief Innovation Officer.
  • Use financial data to guide product and service investment decisions.
  • Govern the financial processes of product development at OpCo levels.
  • Influence strategic growth decisions by using financial data.
  • Support the product team on their mission to enable the growth of the organization through technological transformation.

You

The ideal candidate will have experience in product finance, financial modelling, business case development, and strategic scenario analysis. However, the role is as much about execution as it is about strategy, so financial controlling, tracking, and dashboarding are more prevalent in the day-to-day work.

More importantly, you will need to be comfortable with agile workflows and a lot of trial and error. Innovation and product development is a process of repeated failure until eventual success, so resilience, patience, and empathy are a must.

In essence you will have proven experience in the following:

  • Developing Business Cases: These are not typical corporate business cases and resemble start-up funding cases since the majority of product development will begin at the ideation stage and require an understanding of growth potential as a full P&L rather than a simple cost analysis.
  • Developing Pricing Models: Products on the agency side are new to the business and require creative pricing models that blend SAAS, PAAS, and traditional agency pricing.
  • Managing Supplier Contracts: Range from simple project contracts to long-term SLAs and Strategic Allicances.
  • Controling Expenditure: A large part of the role is managing project finance across direct and indirect teams to ensure that all projects are on budget.
  • Visualizing Financial Data: The role includes managerial updates. You do not need data visualization capabilities, that is covered by your partners, but it does include the use of the financial data for management reporting.
