Job Title: Finance - BAAM Pricing, AVP

Job Description:

The Finance Middle Office team is looking for an AVP for Blackstone Alternative Asset Management ("BAAM"). The core focus of the group is to coordinate, evaluate, analyze, and report pricing for BAAM.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the pricing process in line with BAAM's Pricing Authorization Matrix, BAAM's valuation policy, and Blackstone's valuation policy as well as requisite external guidance
  • Assist in day-to-day management of the team including, but not limited to, checking daily and monthly pricing feeds from multiple vendors, trade back-testing, stale price checks, ASC leveling, price source checks against pricing authorization matrix, profit and loss, price estimates and actuals comparisons, presentation to senior leaders, and completion of ad-hoc deliverables
  • Coordinate with the Direct Investing operations team for sourcing estimate valuations on fund of hedge fund investments
  • Work with the investment team and sub-advisors in the aggregation of broker quotes
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and presentation of materials for the Valuation Committee
  • Drive the onboarding process for investments, maintain data collection procedures, identify changes in ASC leveling, and coordinate with the FMO - Portfolio Valuation & Analytics team as necessary
  • Manage relationships with pricing vendors and manage the annual audit
  • Implement controls, enhancements and improvements to the group's reporting processes, procedures, offshore resources, and use of technology
  • Manage the creation and development of presentation materials to effectively communicate results within BAAM and wider Blackstone
  • Assist in the presentation of pricing results to various internal committees, external auditors, and limited partners
  • Review month-end flash reporting to key internal stakeholders
  • Maintain relationships with core constituencies including, Portfolio Valuation & Analytics, Asset Management, deal professionals, Investor Relations, Operations, Accounting, and Finance teams
  • Work closely with the Portfolio Valuation & Analytics team and assist in onboarding certain Level 3 valuation models.
  • Perform data analytics, identify noteworthy trends, and present analysis to senior leaders.
  • Trajectory toward greater managerial responsibilities based on performance



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or similar discipline
  • 6+ years of pricing experience in a hedge fund, relevant consulting firm, or a similar environment
  • 1+ years of experience managing a team of at least 3 individuals
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and challenging environment that requires execution of recurring deliverables as well as projects and initiatives in support of a rapidly growing business
  • Thorough understanding of profit and loss and familiarity with ASC 820. Familiarity with a wide range of pricing vendors and technology (e.g., Bloomberg, IHS Markit, Refinitiv, Arcesium, BAML PriceServ, JPM Price Direct, and IDC) and asset classes (e.g., equity, swaps, options, bonds, loans, CDS, CMBX, futures, currency forwards, ABS, and fund investments)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high EQ, and the ability to confidently and competently handle interactions with Portfolio Valuation & Analytics, deal professionals, Asset Management, and portfolio company representatives
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Confidence presenting to large groups of senior leaders (e.g., monthly Pricing Committee and quarterly BAAM Valuation Committee)
  • Able to multi-task and manager their own time
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint is required
  • Proficiency in Snowflake a plus
