Hermeus is a startup developing hypersonic aircraft to radically accelerate air travel. At Mach 5, more than twice the speed of the supersonic Concorde, passengers will be able to cross the Atlantic in 90 minutes. On the path to hypersonic passenger aircraft, Hermeus is partnering with government agencies including the US Air Force and NASA to develop a series of autonomous aircraft that derisk the technology and solve urgent national security challenges. These products provide the data and confidence necessary to certify, produce, operate, and maintain safe and comfortable commercial aircraft. Hypersonic aircraft have the potential to create trillions of dollars of new global economic growth per year, unlocking significant resources that can be utilized to solve the world’s greatest problems.

Mach 5 aircraft present an opportunity to create massive social and economic growth while solving critical national security problems. While the engineering challenges here are hard, the financial ones are arguable even harder. From planning and execution to raising private capital and driving revenue, the Finance team is the nexus for cash moving in and out of the company. Our mission is to distribute financial accountability to the lowest levels by providing each member of the team with financial intelligence to make high-quality decisions quickly within company-level context.

We do this by building and running the internal financial infrastructure necessary for budgeting, purchasing, accounting, financing, and reporting. There's no shortage of uncertainty in this endeavor. As such we work closely with the legal, production, and operations teams to manage it with intelligence, speed and agility. As we build the Finance team, we are seeking individuals who bring full-stack expertise from designing how the financial organization functions, the tools it uses, and how it enables the team to move fast. The ability and willingness to learn quickly is critical, especially while balancing the pressures of simultaneously executing and scaling.
