The Team
This role is with the General Ledger Transformation Team, which is part of the Controllers group in CFO office. The team is leading the charge to improve the efficiency and operations within the General Ledger area, primarily in SAP technologies. This is a newly formed team and thus provides ample growth opportunities in near future in operations, support, and data analytics around financial data. The role reports to Head of General Ledger Transformation and partners with Corporate IT, 3rd party Vendors and business users/leaders across Treasury, FP&A, Actuary, Data Mgmt. etc.
The Impact
- Accountability
- Lead the SAP FPSL implementation specifically to support IFRS17 accounting & compliance along with associated configuration in SAP FICO, SAP Treasury, and other downstream integrations.
- Domain Process owner for all IFRS17 (for Insurance) related changes, system modifications in sub-ledger along with familiarity & understanding for IFRS9 (for banking)
- Business Acumen
- Implement best practices for various measurement types such as General Measurement Model (GMM), Premium Allocation Approach (PAA) and Variable fee approach (VFA)
- Manage and support full SAP FPSL architecture and associated components such as Source Data Layer (SDL), Result Data Layer (RDL) and Calculation and Valuation Process Manager (CVPM)
- Inclusion
- Establish/enhance governance and internal control procedures and maintain and consistently improve upon a strong control environment
- Collaborate closely with other Controllers teams, such as the financial close team and external reporting to ensure the accurate recognition of accounting for various transactions and events
- Resilience
- Own the full SAP FPSL configuration/solutions evaluation/execution in partnership with other teams, IT & Off-shore business partners.
- Establish and enhance governance and internal control procedures.
- Development
- Lead SAP centric configuration & process changes in alignment with accounting policy within the Controllers Organization for evaluation/implementation of new GAAP/statutory reporting needs.
- Lend Configuration & tactical support to other peer teams such as SAP Treasury, SAP Data Analytics, SAP FICO, SAP Profitability, SAP Treasury, and other Project team members
- Leading Others
- Lead Use Case formulation, As-Is/To-be analysis, product demos, Joint Application Development (JAD sessions) to help understand processes, SAP systems capabilities, and business benefits
- Guides the team in establishing effective governance and key timelines, milestones, and deliverables for successful initiative execution
- Agility
- Coordinate/collaborate across Finance, enterprise technology, internal audit, enterprise risk, other business units and external audit
- Understand how data flow through financial systems to accounting function & plan appropriately for changes while prioritizing
The Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Accounting, Finance, IT, Computers, or another similar field
- Minimum of 8 years of SAP experience implementing SAP ERP and/or SAP S/4 HANA with extensive Hands-on Configuration/development with Insurance and/or finance/banking domain.
- Hands-on experience implementing SAP FPSL, sAFI, Bank Analyzer (BA) or Insurance Analyzer (IA).
- Familiarity and/or experience working with Public Clouds such as AWS, AZURE & GCP
- At-least 2 full Life-cycle SAP FPSL implementation experience or other similar product
- Proven IFRS17 and IFRS9 related domain knowledge and configuration experience
- Familiarity/Experience in SAP modules such as FI, CO, AR, AP, GL, PA, PCA, CCA, Treasury etc.
The Ideal Qualifications
- MBA or equivalent and/or Certified Public Accountant preferred
- A Full life-cycle SAP S/4 HANA implementation with Universal Ledger highly preferred
- Knowledge of US GAAP, insurance statutory accounting/reporting and/or experience in Financial Institutions preferred
- Experience in other SAP products - SAP BW, BusinessObjects, SAP BPC, SAP C4C is Bonus
- Ability to work with senior management and influence decision making
- Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to adapt to change
- Ability to proactively take ownership of projects and drive to completion
- Experience working in a Finance transformational setting & driving change
- Use increasing insight to identify and implement improvements that increase the business value and efficiency of the work performed.
- Ability to Initiate and/or leads increasingly complex projects and continuous improvement activities that may span beyond the scope of own team
- Experience in best-in-class control execution/documentation
- Detail-oriented with demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work across levels, from staff to executive management
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in future
- Travel between Boston and Springfield required
