Director, Strategic Finance at Human Interest (Remote)

Strategic Finance & Analytics work closely with business leaders across departments to help the company run efficiently by setting goals, evaluating initiatives, reporting progress and improving processes. The role is for generalists who combine analytical rigor and an obsessive focus on outcomes with an empathetic interpersonal style. As Strategic Finance Director, you will play a key role in driving business decisions and accountability throughout the organization as we continue to scale.
What you get to do every day
Staffing the Strategic Finance team to serve the needs of our business. This role is assigned one direct report to hire immediately with plans to scale with the company
Support/enhance processes and structure for budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning
Identify, define, and drive analyses to promote a deep and holistic understanding of business metrics, growth drivers, trends, and identify improvement areas and opportunities
Develop business unit KPIs to measure profitability, margins, customer retention, cost savings opportunities and overall SaaS metrics
Act as the strategic thought partner to the leadership team, helping to identify, scope, and execute upon new initiatives
Keep track of the business to ensure it is operating as successfully as possible, stepping in to help drive improvements as needed
Serve as the connective tissue of a cross-functional team, working to share knowledge and drive people towards a common goal
Inspire teams to break organizational assumptions and challenge the status quo
Own outcomes in their entirety: from ideation and strategy to in-the-weeds delivery of results
Tackle ambiguous, open-ended questions and quickly iterate on solutions
Support IPO readiness through managing financial metrics and benchmarks, preparation of supporting materials, and execution with potential investors
What you bring to the role
7+ years of finance experience at an investment bank, consulting firm, or finance/strategy at a high-growth/startup company
Experience building and mentoring a Strategic Finance or Biz Ops team
Excellent business partnering and communication skills
Knowledge of SaaS business models and experience in analyzing SaaS metrics
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with big picture strategic understanding
High degree of comfort with ambiguity; ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Growth mindset, curiosity and scrappiness
Excellent communication skills - ability to collaborate across functions and levels throughout the company, as well as with external partners
Ability to drive insights from large datasets - SQL experience a plus
Experience with the IPO process and/or experience supporting public company finance processes a plus

Compensation - The salary range for this role is between $138,000 - 185,000. This information reflects a base salary range for this position based on current market data, and may vary by location. Exact compensation will be determined by the candidates' skills, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for additional incentives such as equity awards, short-term incentives, or sales compensation.
