This high-profile position directs the global revenue accounting cycle for a $1B USD revenue company with multiple revenue streams, including hardware, software, and services. This position is part of the extended senior finance leadership team. The position will be required to uplevel complicated accounting rules for executive management use in making effective and timely business decisions. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, are required for success. Reviews customer contracts and determines accounting treatment in accordance with ASC606 guidance. Functional lead for month-end close and internal and external audits. Provides direction on balance sheet account reconciliations and ensures variances are resolved.

The Director of Revenue Accounting works with Operations, Sales, Customer Fulfillment, FP&A, and IT teams to enhance collaboration and improve relationships between finance and the business. Monitors and reviews periodic updates to revenue technical accounting from appropriate sources. This individual will ensure accuracy and compliance with US GAAP, while leading a team of 4 revenue accounting professionals. This individual will be expected to be change agent within the finance organization and provide thought leadership to other members of the organization.

Areas of Expertise & Special Skills:

  • Master's degree in accounting


  • CPA with an active license
  • 12+ years of accounting experience in a public accounting and/or corporate environment


  • 10+ years of revenue recognition accounting experience with fluent understanding of ASC606
  • Skilled at reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and recognizing necessary follow-up actions.
  • Experience managing a team of accounting professionals
  • Background working in a multi-segment and revenue stream company environment
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills are required to communicate technical accounting requirements to non-technical audience
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills with MS Office software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong financial systems background with Oracle experienced strongly preferred
  • Experience working with remote teams in a multicurrency, multinational environment
  • Organizational and time management skills to prioritize heavy individual workload to meet time sensitive deadlines



Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of four accounting professionals: Advocate and lead as a change agent
  • Accountable for the monthly revenue close: review of transaction processing, approval of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations with analysis of revenue and deferred revenue.
    • Works to identify and solve issues and ensures closing deadlines are met.
    • Oversees projects module process and related intercompany accounting while ensuring exceptions/issues are addressed.
    • Understands and provides oversight to JSOX controls and works to improve controls as needed.
    • Establishes accounting treatment for complex deals, new product offering and marketing program.
  • Proactively identifies new accounting processes and leads continuous review and improvement of existing revenue procedures.
  • Reviews major customer contracts and provides oversight to the overall contract review process to ensure compliance with ASC606 to identify potential revenue adjustments.
    • Interprets technical revenue accounting and reporting requirements and apply them to TGCS customer arrangements.
    • Communicates accounting treatment considerations with non-finance teams.
    • Prepares technical memos for significant customer contracts including necessary research.
    • Monitors applicable revenue technical accounting updates.
  • Manage annual SSP (stand-alone selling price) analysis for all TGCS products and services offerings by extracting source data and running certain programs/software.
    • Explain the SSP process and results to related teams.
    • Analyze differences between ASC605 and ASC606, while validating root causes.
  • Establishes strong cross-functional relationships with Engineering, Products and IT teams to ensure correct revenue recognition.
  • Ensures necessary contributions to revenue forecast and communicates the same to FP&A and responsible cross-functionally teams. Proactively flags potential, one-time revenue accounting adjustments that may impact forecast.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
