Director – Financial Institutions

The Director of Financial Institutions will be responsible for the bank and credit union channel. This role would lead senior-level discussions with external FIs for the execution and sales teams. This position reports to the VP, Head of Financial Institutions. Ideally based in the San Francisco office but open to remote as well.
Responsibilities:
- Present Upgrade’s unsecured consumer loans and any subsequent products that Upgrade develops to C-level executives at domestic banks and credit unions
- Work on strategic business development and partnership opportunities and launch of new asset classes
- Liaise with
- Oversee the on-boarding of new investors including account opening and documentation review
- Negotiate high-value commercial contracts, legal agreements
- Oversee due diligence processes
- Optimize the Financial Institutions sales team strategy for most high-value coverage/targeting
- Build and grow the Financial Institutions inside/outside sales team and account management functions
- Develop best-in-class investor experience and document scalable processes
- Work with product managers and engineers to ensure the integrity of investor requests
Skills:
- 10+ years of overall professional experience backgrounds in investment banking, whole loan trading, FinTech, or bank partnerships will be considered
- Strong understanding of consumer loan profiles
- Executive presence, ability to lead discussions / negotiations with external clients / partners
- Familiarity with operations of a lending business, legal, compliance, servicing etc
- Good legal acumen for negotiating purchase and service agreements as well as other vendor and commercial agreements
- Experience with sales team management
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Good judgment and excellent interpersonal skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and a strong client service orientation
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and recognize and focus on critical issues
