Provides financial leadership for the US Card Business, the largest contributor to Discover's profitability and critical to driving the company's growth strategy. This role serves as the Head of Financial and Investment Analytics for the business unit and provides strategic financial support for key initiatives, acquisition & portfolio investments, competitive & industry analysis, pricing & credit risk profitability analytics, and developing long-term growth plans.
Responsibilities:
Provide strategic thought leadership, develop financial frameworks, and drive disciplined financial decision making in order to maximize business unit profitability. Serves as lead for Financial and Investment Analytics for the Card business unit including Marketing, Credit Risk and Analytics business partners.
Develops, reviews and independently analyzes Marketing, Credit Risk, and Pricing initiatives and provide strategic advice and financial analysis for investment decisions, enhancements to existing products and development of new products.
Provides insightful, strategic & timely financial reporting on all aspects of business performance, including leading the update process of valuation models, focusing on emerging opportunities and risks, variance to expectations, and scenario analysis.
Leads and plays a critical role in development of long term financial strategy. Provides holistic consultative support (for all aspects including Credit Risk, Marketing, and Operations) for formulating new business initiatives, development of new products and problem solving guidance for various ad-hoc issues.
Drives operating efficiency through prudent expense management. Develops initiatives and actions to understand marginal returns, optimize expenses and develop a glide path to achieve long-term business expense targets to remain competitive.
Proactively identifies, and analyzes impact of rapidly evolving competitive landscape and develop strategic recommendations to the leadership team.
Leads, develops and recruits a team of high caliber financial managers and analysts. Drives, manages & prioritizes short & long term impact projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business. Master’s degree in Finance or Business preferred.
12+ years of experience in planning, financial analysis, strategy or related, including people management preferred.
Minimum 8 years’ of planning, financial analysis, strategy or related, including people management.
