Job Description:

We are looking for a Manager who is excited to roll-up their sleeves and develop processes that will scale with our growth. A successful leader in this role is someone who can work independently but also enjoys working cross functionally with business, operations and technical colleagues to develop technical processes. This highly visible position is responsible for leading the Technical and Financial Reporting Accounting functions domestically and internationally, including the oversight of personnel. This individual will work beyond the numbers and led the day-to-day interactions with our key partner relationships. They will also assist business leaders with defining key controls and audit processes, address and anticipate issues and opportunities in running the business. This role will report to the Corporate Controller and will be involved in developing policies to ensure financial information is complete and accurate.

This role will work collaboratively and cross functionally with other team members in sales, accounting, finance, sourcing, product, and marketing. Qualified candidates will have strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ideal candidates have a passion to improve processes, embrace change, and help us move the organization forward. Success in this role requires strong teamwork and collaborative skills to work and communicate across functional teams such as Financial Planning & Analysis, Shared Services (Accounts Receivable, Payable and Payroll), Procurement, Reporting and Financial Systems. An independent self-starter with strong attention to details and the ability to understand transaction workflows are key to success. Experience with foreign currency would be beneficial. The individual in this role will need to be adaptable, especially over the next two years, as the work will evolve as we undertake a transformative journey to a new ERP and Order to Cash system.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Sets team direction, resolves problems and provides guidance to members of the Accounting team.
  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address business and operational challenges.
  • Influences or provides input to forecasting and planning activities.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary business contact for complex contractual structures to ensure the Company optimizes the appropriate accounting and financial reporting impacts.
  • Perform technical accounting research and preparing memos/whitepaper documentation for technical accounting matters affecting the company. Prepare technical accounting memos to support accounting positions as required.
  • Conduct accounting policy and principles revenue accounting research and proactively advises management on the potential impact of emerging GAAP guidance and policies.
  • Implements new accounting standards. Research, evaluate and manage the implementation of new accounting standards as required.
  • Manage new initiatives in accordance with current policies.
  • Evaluate the impact of new businesses/significant process changes as well as external requirements.
  • Maintain and update the Company's accounting policies to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Providing coaching, leadership and review responsibilities for the controllership function as necessary.
  • Continually review the internal process for efficiency improvements.
  • Demonstrate understanding of GAAP, internal accounting policies, and how they are applied in the specific business.
  • Proactively identifies and addresses potential accounting errors/risks on an ongoing basis.
  • Monthly Accounting Processes (journal entries and reconciliations and reports):
    • Review Accounts Receivable / Bad Debt Reserves and related flux analysis
    • Review Internally Developed Software
    • Accountable for Legal Reserves
    • Accountable Worker's Compensation, including retroactive plan years
    • Accountable for Self-Insurance/Incurred but Not Reported Reserve (IBNR)
  • Support the Annual Accounting Processes
    • Internally Developed Software for updates/rates, etc.
    • Worker's Compensation - assessments, lookbacks, etc.
    • Self-Insurance/Incurred but Not Reported Reserve (IBNR)
    • Goodwill impairment
    • Policy and Procedure updating
  • Financial Reporting reviews
    • Reviews monthly flash financials for management.
    • Covenant compliance understanding and support.
    • Owns all supporting documentation for all financial presentations to Board of Directors, lenders, and executive management.
    • Reviews consolidated financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
    • Coordinate data collection process with business units and corporate functions including FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal, HR and Shared Services.
    • Reviews statement of cash flows including the effect of foreign currency exchange rate changes.
    • Analyze, manage, and review monthly P&L results and variance explanations, preparing comments against budget and prior year, suggesting corrective measures.
  • Communicate financial information in a concise and accessible manner to non-finance personnel and management.
  • Develop impactful, compelling presentation materials (decks, notes, write-ups, backup materials, etc.) that effectively communicates financial projections, drivers, business performance, risks and opportunities to leadership.
  • Support in automating monthly reports to cut down on the cycle time for report sharing.



Develop and Manage Accounting Personnel

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees:
    • Planning, assigning, and directing work
    • Appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees
    • Addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Oversee revenue accountant and potential other employees:
    • Ensure Revenue Recognition is understood and documented for all new offerings
    • Review/prepare/enhance Revenue Metrics
    • Review/prepare/enhance Cost of Revenue analysis
  • Direct reports will be based upon functional areas of oversight



Other

  • Complete special projects as needed and other duties assigned
  • Flexible work hours necessary to accommodate critical deadlines and international business needs
  • Minimal travel required



Essential Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience collaborating with Accounting, Finance, Tax, Legal, Operations, Treasury and other key business partners is a must
  • 8+ years in accounting, finance and systems or relevant work experience (preferably focused on technology industry) from public accounting and/or large public companies
  • Experience with technical accounting research and analysis for topics including revenue, software, research and development, and business combinations
  • Self-starter who thrives in high growth environment and is comfortable with autonomy and accountability
  • Critical thinking and logical reasoning skills, including complex problem solving, troubleshooting and decision making
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to present technical, numerical, complex data to stakeholders in an effective and persuasive manner
  • Ability to communicate and train others on key business drivers
  • Visionary with sound analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus
  • Possess excellent organization skills and detail orientation
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential data
  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • CPA or public accounting experience and accounting supervision experience
  • Ability to explain concepts and articulate your expert opinion at all levels
  • Strong documentation skills-clear, concise, detailed and accurate
  • Workday and Tableau experience beneficial but not necessary
  • Hybrid remote arrangement acceptable
