POSITION SUMMARY:

Lead, guide and direct operations as it relates to media billing, media vendor invoice processing and media disbursements for IPG advertising agencies while maintaining SOX compliance. Responsible for accurate and timely performance of all media client accounting functions, ensuring customer requirements are met and liaising with local office and other IPG departments as needed. Review and identify areas for improvement and implement solutions. Provide assistance and supervision in all media department functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for leading and coordinating the work of a large team of media client accounting personnel - client billing, vendor invoice processing and media disbursements
  • Motivate, train and evaluate clerical and professional staff
  • Establish departmental goals and complete performance appraisals
  • Develop and facilitate conversion strategies for new work or transitioning agencies services
  • Monitor transactional volumes to ensure staffing appropriateness and recommend action plans to address movements in volumes
  • Identify potential areas for billing, clearing and disbursement process improvements and implement changes as deemed appropriate
  • Research and initiate corrective action to resolve client billing and vendor invoice processing issues
  • Develop positive and productive relationships within IPG Agencies and other IPG department employees
  • Participate in various discussions with agencies, clients and vendors
  • Research questions from agency finance employees, account service, buyers, planners and other IPG employees in order to provide timely and accurate answers
  • Review process controls and associated monitoring to ensure SOX compliance
  • Responsible for following IPG's Standard Policies and Procedures
  • Coordinate preparation of internal and external audits
  • Complete special projects as assigned and prepare ad hoc reporting as needed
  • Occasional travel as required (5-10%)
  • Regular and reliable attendance required
  • Ability to work onsite in an office environment with limited remote work alternatives, consistent with applicable law


EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred
  • Minimum of five to seven years of hands on related accounting experience
  • Three to five years of managerial experience required
  • Three to five years of media industry experience preferred
  • Understanding of accounting concepts, practices, procedures, and financial reports
  • Duties require broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to drive consensus among team members towards departmental objectives
  • Ability to delegate tasks and projects as deemed
  • Ability to excel in a fast paced work environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact with all levels of an organization from clerical to executives in both written and oral communications
  • Leadership and team building skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong analytical and proactive problem solving abilities
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Demonstrates expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Detail oriented, organized and focused on quality
