Overview
Ensures that the assets reviewed meet all applicable investor guidelines, through a complete knowledge of requirements and regulations. Held accountable for quality and accuracy of decisions. Support underwriters and senior underwriters with tasks that include but are not limited to clearing conditions, validating the accuracy of AUS runs, simple income calculation and verification of funds to close and reserve documentation.
Job Description

  • Review all mortgage applications and documentation for accuracy and completeness for conventional loans
  • Work with clients to prepare mortgage applications and related documentation as needed, help resolve any outstanding issues
  • Work with compliance officers to ensure Federal, State, and local compliance of all mortgage and loan materials
  • Approve or deny mortgages on a timely basis. Ensure the quality and accuracy of each loan
  • Update the Automated Underwriting System (AUS) per new information received, assesses results and generates necessary loan conditions
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with origination staff and management on matters related to underwriting requirements.
  • Review loans files for indications of possible fraud as directed.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned
  • Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization's desired culture and values

Ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • Min 1 years of mortgage processing experience
  • Ability to calculate basis wage earner income
  • Solid knowledge of mortgage underwriting and of basic automated underwriting systems
  • Knowledge of mortgage laws and regulations required
  • Knowledge of state and federal agency mortgage loan guidelines and regulations helpful
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to effectively prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be highly proficient in Excel and Word
  • Must be a team player with strong attention to detail, with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and mathematical skills, using sound judgment
  • Financial Services and, if possible, mortgage industry experience preferred
  • Strong business acumen and ability to interface with executive management
