Overview
The AVP, Portfolio Investments is responsible for helping manage various types of investments the Company makes on behalf of its managed entities. The investments span across various product types including whole loans, mortgage backed securities, and mortgage servicing rights. The AVP, Portfolio Investments will conduct extensive analysis on both existing investments as well as new opportunities and assist to oversee the day to day operations to ensure the strategic execution of the overall program is met. The AVP, Portfolio Investments also works closely with many other parts of the organization and will be responsible for communicating and coordinating across the Company for all investment related initiatives.
Job Description

  • Conduct extensive investment valuation activities including collateral and pricing analytics
  • Manage activities related to running and maintaining pricing models and help oversee day to day activity
  • Conduct model validation, verify inputs/assumptions, and periodically back test data to support changes in the market and business with a large degree of autonomy
  • Work on whole loan, MSR, and securitization transactions, and ensure deliverables and deadlines are consistently attained
  • Monitor performance of investment portfolios and transactions completed, including in depth analysis of actual to model results such as vectors and returns
  • Research and analyze collateral data across the servicing and origination portfolios and run analyses and reporting
  • Interact with investors, sellers, correspondents, broker-dealers, brokers, business partners, and financing providers with respect to both building new relationships and expanding existing ones
  • Serve as a Capital Markets Portfolio Investments liaison to other internal departments (such as Financial Analysis and Valuation, Portfolio Strategy, Treasury, Accounting, Production, and Servicing)
  • Manage, cross train, and assist in the development of junior members of the Portfolio Investments team
  • Build controls and processes to ensure zero defect execution on activities within areas of responsibility
  • Perform and manage additional responsibilities / projects within Portfolio Investments and across the organization as required and assigned
  • Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization's desired culture and values

Ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • Detail-oriented and proven leader capable of delivering results due to the significant and immediate financial impact on valuation/pricing/trading
  • Willingness and interest to research and understand complex modeling and business issues
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and mathematical skills, along with sound judgment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with Executive Management and coordinate with other groups across the organization
  • Experience in financial services and / or mortgage industry
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel automation skills
  • Proficient with SQL, Snowflake, and Python / R highly desired
