Real Estate Private Equity:

Our Single Family Residential Equity strategy (Amherst Residential) has quickly scaled over the last 7 years to own and operate 40,000+ homes in 29 markets across 19 states while building a vertically integrated real estate investment and operating platform. Across the SFR strategy, Amherst has raised almost $3.5bn in equity and arranged approximately $10.7bn in debt financing over the last seven years and is currently investing more than $350mm a month in single family real estate assets.

Capital Management Associate:

Amherst is looking for an Associate who will support our liquidity management and portfolio management efforts by developing and maintaining strategic capital plans to ensure compliance with financial covenants and targets within our single family residential capital management platform. This includes continuing the development of and maintaining the integrity of capital planning models, determining and analyzing key financial events, thoroughly understanding the financial operations of the platforms and efficiently communicating complex scenarios and decision points to senior executives. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager for exposure to, and rapid advancement in, high level corporate financing and capital markets activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain intensive financial modeling and scenario analyses
  • Perform high level analyses of relative value and risk-adjusted return profiles across multiple investment channels
  • Establish liquidity management plans including timing of capital draws, deployment, transactions and expense processing
  • Determine key financial events or decision points necessitating further discussion
  • Partner closely with other departments to ensure financial stability and to facilitate investment decision making and operational processes
  • Provide analysis driving strategic decision making in areas such as portfolio composition, financing/capital structure and growth/exit opportunities
  • Coordinate with the Acquisition team to determine potential investment needs and match them to financial capabilities
  • Understand the economic impact of revenue, expense, and operations functions
  • Highlight specific financial issues and opportunities
  • Work on long term projects but retain responsibility for certain functions while comfortably providing coverage to additional team responsibilities as needed
  • Lead and oversee juniors to coordinate efforts and ensure high quality short timeline deliverables and overall focus on team objectives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (advanced degree desirable) in a quantitative field; Finance, Math, Business, Economics with a strong interest in Real Estate
  • 3-5 years experience with financial modeling and analysis in private equity, investment management firm, hedge fund, investment bank or corporate finance environment
  • Extensive knowledge of and comfort with Microsoft Excel
  • Positive attitude, great energy and passion for growth; thrives in a highly-dynamic and diverse team environment
  • Willingness to dive deep into constantly-changing, fast-paced and high-impact projects
  • Comfortable taking initiative and using creative problem solving to address constantly-changing economic environments and ambiguous challenges
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and tasks
  • Results-focused, collaborative, thrives in a team-based, high energy environment
  • Effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
