About the Role
Workday is seeking Associate Manager, Accounting to join our Finance People Operations (FPO) team. The FPO team includes Global Payroll, Stock Administration, Employee Expense & Corporate Card, Payroll Accounting, and Mobility. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, a great communicator, and enjoys collaborating with people with a diverse set of talents, in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Responsible for general ledger accounts related to payroll expense and liabilities, including ensuring proper taxation of earnings in the system and posting to appropriate general ledger codes for all transactions.
- Owner and approver of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes related to US and International Payroll accruals and adjustments
- Submitting flux commentary from analysis to support Corporate Accounting preparation of CFO financial review.
- SOX Compliance documentation and assistance with internal audits
- Leading team of accountants through annual payroll support requests related to tax returns and statutory audits for all payroll jurisdictions.
- Work closely with peer managers on projects, accounting accuracy, and cross-functional relationships
- Quarter and year end activities, including SOX control exercises and supplying payroll data for director proxy statements
- Monitor metrics and find opportunities for automation and improvement
- Driving positive employee experience while ensuring accountability
- Mentoring and guiding development of staff career plans
- Developing and fostering cross-functional relationships
About You
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 8+ years accounting experience
Other Qualifications
- Leadership skills
- Strong excel experience preferred
- Payroll and Stock Compensation Accounting experience preferred
- SOX Compliance experience preferred
- Strong technical accounting, analytical and organizational skills
- Work well within tight turnaround timeframes and due dates, delegate work appropriately, and hold individuals accountable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail
