Associate Actuary

The Associate Actuary is responsible for performing and review the pricing of traditional (non-Care) products, which includes whole life, term, individual annuities and variable products.This individual will collaborate with business partners from IT, marketing, product management, distribution, administration, and other areas to ensure effective implementation of new products and maintain exceptional discipline and documentation in the pricing process.
This role is part of the OA Actuarial Student Rotational Program and requires successful completion of requirements to earn the FSA designation in order to remain with the program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Model & price traditional insurance products using a variety of pricing tools (Excel, Prophet, etc.)
- Ensure exceptional governance, controls, peer review, and documentation exists for products built & in collaboration with business partners. Specifically ensure that assumption and model governance is of paramount importance.
- Work with leaders to find appropriate balance between competitive value propositions in the market, and required profitability for the enterprise
- Maintain exceptional relationships with both internal and external business partners
- Collaborate with peer departments in issues related to the traditional business lines, including dividend scales, renewal rates, policyholder tax, profit targets, investment guidelines, expense studies, etc.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS/BA in math, actuarial science, economics, or related fields
- Attainment of SOA ASA designation preferred
- Insurance industry experience
- Effective problem solver, detail-oriented, possess communication and collaboration skills, be very responsive, and proactively seek alignment.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills required, as well as the ability to successfully manage multiple workstreams at the same time.
Salary Band: 05C

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of OneAmerica associates are currently working remotely in accordance with our safety protocols. The selected candidate will be expected to temporarily work remotely for an unspecified period of time as determined in OneAmerica's sole discretion. When normal business operations resume, the selected candidate will be expected to physically return to work in the office located in Indianapolis.
