This position reports to and supports the Controller in all areas of operational accounting, revenue, general ledger accounting and international accounting. The position is instrumental in controlling the month end close through management of the staff and improvement of processes. You will be involved with various technical accounting projects, including memos and analysis related to complex transactions, accounting policy research and implementation and management of domestic and foreign audits. Additionally, you will assist in developing an internal control structure consistent with that of a public companies.

What will you own?
  • Own the revenue recognition process and ensure the accurate recording of revenue on a monthly and quarterly basis. Includes the SSP analysis, documentation of revenue technical accounting positions, reviewing and / preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Building out a process and structure for how we recognize and report revenue in accordance with ASC 606, collaborating cross-functionally across the organization, with specific attention directed towards the Company’s Software offerings.
  • Perform technical research on new accounting guidance and complete white papers to summarize the Company’s adoption of this accounting guidance
  • Maintain and update Sarbanes-Oxley control documentation and support audits of related controls
  • Support the SEC reporting process in preparing for an initial public offering and assist with the requested financial information for the company’s disclosure requirements.
  • Ensure a timely month-end close and ensure all material balance sheet and profit and loss accounts are reconciled monthly in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the financial audit process, including preparation of materials for the financial statement audit and working with the external auditors.
  • Assist with employee onboarding, payroll processing, benefits packages, insurance, and risk management strategies.
  • Manage and monitor sales taxes, franchise taxes, and other corporate taxes, working closely with tax advisors to ensure reporting and compliance is in place.  Work with tax advisors on support for tax provisions, and other tax filings for US and international subsidiaries.
  • Support budget development and reporting, financial planning and analysis.
  • Mentor team members with their development and career progression.
  • Assist in monthly variance analysis through understanding the financial data within the greater context of the business.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automate manual procedures.
  • Provide support to finance leadership and other customers as needs arise, including ad-hoc financial analysis, and special projects.
  • Assists Corporate Controller with a variety of tasks as needed.

What you have:
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, software industry experience required
  • CPA is preferred
  • Big 4 or Large National/Regional Audit experience is a major plus.
  • Possess a good working knowledge of ASC 606 and must be comfortable with ambiguity
  • Knowledge of SOX requirements, including the ability to assess, develop and implement internal controls related to revenue and deferred revenue
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent.
  • Experience at a publicly traded technology company.
  • Managed a team; strong leadership, team building and interpersonal skills.
  • Comprehensive and current understanding of U.S. GAAP, particularly revenue recognition, business combinations and stock-based compensation.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply accounting guidance and prepare formal, well-supported, accounting position papers and supporting analyses
  • Strong strategic, presentation, project management and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, business group leaders and senior management
  • Experience using a range of financial systems
  • We use Apple computers and Google collaboration tools. While experience with these tools is not required, the ideal candidate will be excited to broaden their knowledge and embrace change.
