GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Accounting Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration and maintenance of all financial systems and applications specific to the accounting department. This includes testing of system upgrades and implementations. The incumbent ensures data accuracy, integrity and proper financial systems and internal controls are in place, and industry best practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks necessary to the maintenance and administration of financial software used for general accounting, expense reimbursements, accounts payable, and other financial systems that are part of the overall accounting and finance process such as general ledger, Filebound, Trintech, GTresaury, Power to Pay, Wings, F9 and ChromeRiver.
  • Partners with business relationship management and IT to outline project plans, collaborates with IT, finance staff and third parties to meet business requirements; ensures project deliverables are on-time.
  • Demonstrates good time management with the ability to prioritize/organize tasks effectively
  • Coordinates and tests system enhancements/upgrades and ensures systems are functional.
  • Ensures consistent financial system and accounting control practices are used throughout the company to maintain the integrity of financial systems and data.
  • Ensures financial systems are maintained according to internal control requirements, and industry best practices; ensures system and process efficiency.
  • Maintains data integrity and updates accounting and financial system tables, accounts, etc;
  • Assesses change/update requests before processing to make sure they meet system requirements.
  • Assists in writing and utilizing reports from financial systems.
  • Responsible for locking and closing the general ledger and Trintech during period ends.
  • Tests or assists with testing department programming projects before implementation.
  • Performs analyses for proposed systems changes to aid management in making change decisions.
  • Assists users with system generated reports, dashboards, workflow and views to support their work.
  • Remains current on emerging financial systems technology, efficiencies and best practices.
  • Troubleshoots problems reported by users through analyzation and isolation of issues; escalates and mediates accordingly.
  • Coordinates, tests, assesses, and assists in the deployment of new functions, features and upgrades; maintains systems on an ongoing basis.
  • Develops and maintains system administration procedure documentation.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Prior accounting admin system experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • General knowledge of accounting processes, procedures and best practices.
  • Strong systems aptitude.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical skills and strong attention to detail, including ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to translate accounting terms to instructions for IT team.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with employees, customers, and other outside third parties.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MicroSoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to successfully handle pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
