This position is a key part of the Specialty Lines of Business Accounting Team. The Specialty Lines of Business team is responsible for the accounting processes related to the specialty lines such as SBA, Premium Finance, and other lines of business. The position is responsible for daily entries, month-end close, and reconciliation activities related to the Lines of Business. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare account reconciliations.
  • Prepare daily entries for Line of Business
  • Perform month-end entries for close on various Lines of Business.
  • Process GL Activity within internal general ledger system
  • Analyze activity reconciliation activity and identify reconciling items including patterns of reconciling which may indicate a system or process concern
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand activity flowing through the account and to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Escalate findings to management in a timely manner
  • Prepare account reconciliation procedures and cross train with others in the reconciliation process



Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and ability to analyze information and data.
  • Ability to receive and understand direction, ask questions when appropriate, and manage time to work effectively and independently.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate complex situations clearly and simply by listening actively and conveying difficult messages in a positive manner.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook)



Industry and Work Experience:

  • 2+ years' experience in an accounting department.



Academic:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
