Job Summary
The Accounting Manager provides necessary oversight and expertise to WebTPA's Corporate Accounting and Finance Team. This position takes ownership of managing core areas of accounts payable and cash management while also providing a supervisory role to the accounting coordinator(s) performing daily accounts payable and cash functions. This role demonstrates a strong, well-rounded accounting knowledge through various month-end accounting and reporting duties. Outside of these core duties, a candidate for this position should model the values of WebTPA and continually work to improve the department's accounting and reporting functions. The Accounting Manager will additionally serve as a primary point of contact for the corporate accounting and finance department, working with department leaders across WebTPA to continually align department initiatives with the overall business objectives or WebTPA.

Essential Functions

The essential functions listed represent the major duties of this role, additional duties may be assigned.

OVERSIGHT OF WEBTPA ACCOUNTS PAYABLE AND CASH MANAGEMENT

  • Manages WebTPA's accounts payable and cash management functions, including establishing monthly processing schedules and evaluating vendor spend each month for completeness and accuracy. This position will take full ownership of ensuring vendor payments and related accounting entries are executed timely, consistently, and efficiently. (20%)
  • Develops and maintains strong cross-department working groups to quickly address and investigate vendor discrepencies and implement new processes to improve accounting function. (20%)

SUPERVISION OF ACCOUNTING STAFF

  • Provides critical direction and oversight to core accounting functions performed by WebTPA Accounting coordinator.
  • As required, role will be a key decision maker in recruiting new team members and will be responsible for providing training to new hires or in relation to the implantation of new projects. Role will actively evaluate the performance and compensation of direct reports and may recommend disciplinary action, including termination, as needed. (20%)

HIGH-LEVEL ACCOUNTING WORK AND FINANCIAL REPORTING

  • Performs key role in establishing monthly budget reporting at the cost-center level including evaluation of expense allocations and adherence to to an effective general ledger taxonomy and account mapping. (10%)
  • Calculates complex and detailed journal entries for month-end close, including but not limited to, recognition of accrued liabilities and amortization of prepaid assets and intangible assets. (10%)
  • Reconciles significant general ledger accounts monthly and investigates variances as needed. (10%)
  • Contributes to short and long range planning and development of WebTPA's Corporate Accounting department. (10%)


Required Work Experience
4+ years related work experience. Experience Details: Or equivalent combination of transferable experience and education

Required Management Experience
2+ years direct supervisory/management experience

Required Education
Related Bachelor's degree or additional related equivalent work experience

Additional Required Qualifications
May have a professional designation.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications
CPA - Certified Public Accountant Or about to sit for CPA exam

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Peoplesoft accounting software preferred

General Physical Demands
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.
