Hermeus is a startup developing hypersonic aircraft to radically accelerate air travel. At Mach 5, more than twice the speed of the supersonic Concorde, passengers will be able to cross the Atlantic in 90 minutes. On the path to hypersonic passenger aircraft, Hermeus is partnering with government agencies including the US Air Force and NASA to develop a series of autonomous aircraft that derisk the technology and solve urgent national security challenges. These products provide the data and confidence necessary to certify, produce, operate, and maintain safe and comfortable commercial aircraft. Hypersonic aircraft have the potential to create trillions of dollars of new global economic growth per year, unlocking significant resources that can be utilized to solve the world’s greatest problems.
The Finance Team is looking for an accounting professional who is detail-oriented, experienced in making process improvements, and independent. This person is an accounting utility weapon and has the experience to manage/execute processes for accounts payable, GL accounting, audit, tax, and payroll.

About The Role:
- Own the Accounts Payable process, including vendor onboarding, invoice coding, and bill processing
- Own and manage the monthly close process with the assistance of our outside accounting firm
- Assist in implementing and optimizing policies & procedures (purchasing process, T&E policy, capitalization policy, fixed asset tracking, and anything else we can improve)
- Support our audit and tax process
- Investigate and build out the infrastructure necessary for FAR cost accounting
- Responsible for the selection and implementation of a new accounting ERP system
- Support our People Operations team with payroll matters
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
- Minimum 3-5 years of Accounts Payable/Accounting experience required
- Experience with Netsuite or similar accounting system
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can execute with minimal oversight
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to learn
- Bonus: Experience in Manufacturing, Start-up, Aerospace/Defense/Aviation, and/or Government sector experience
