Accounting Manager - Remote

Summary:
This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager supervises accounting analysts and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a variety of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, audit compliance and coordination, internal reporting and miscellaneous projects.
The successful candidate will be a strong leader, communicator and have sound technical accounting strength and creativity to help drive process improvements and timely and accurate financial reporting. This successful candidate will contribute to continue building a world-class shared services and operational accounting center.
Responsibilities:
Must be able to define work based on evaluation of short term and long-term goals. Must be able to independently evaluate processes, key internal controls, perform analyses and identify areas of improvement to incorporate in overall work objectives.
- Manage accounting functions including: General ledger, financial reporting, job costing, accounts receivable, assets and inventory control.
- Work with and communicate proactively to key stakeholders and customers to develop positive working relationships and ways to improve service
- Provide effective leadership, coaching and direction to accounting team
- Lead the preparation of financial reporting and analysis to support strategic decision making, including business segment, product line and profitability reporting
- Analyze and interpret financial data to assess monthly results, including comparisons to budget, forecast, and prior year.
- Proactively identify and implement solutions for improved efficiency and accuracy
- General accounting responsibilities for business segments including revenue recognition, prepaid and accrued expenses, and cost allocations
- Month end financial reporting and ad hoc analysis
- Report and analyze variances to budget, forecast and prior year
- Interpret and analyze data and prepare summary reports for management review
- Assist with quarterly and annual internal and external audit requests
- Continuous review of internal control procedures and identify key controls
- Respond quickly and accurately to special reporting and analysis requests
- Responsible for development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Advise management on important financial matters
- Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
- Maintain a sound internal control environment while ensuring compliance with company financial policies and procedures
- Ensure results are reported in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with at least 7 years of relevant work experience
- Experience leading teams through significant reporting and business changesSolid understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
- Experience with accounting under ASC 606 and ASC 842 required.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP system
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Experience in developing strong remote team relationships based on trust, accountability, integrity, and sharing of best practices.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing

- Experience in working with accounting software and databases
- Superior data management and data analysis skills
