We are a remote friendly, global team, but provide the option of working in-office in San Francisco, New York City, Indianapolis, Sioux Falls, Porto, and Singapore.

This Member of the Accounting Team will play a critical role in accounting for brokerage-related activities. Specific areas of coverage include: commissions, trading gains/losses, inventory, counterparty balances and fees. They will also work cross-functionally to help us design, automate and implement new systems and processes as we build for scale.

As a Member of the Accounting Team you will:

• Perform daily and month end processes including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, inventory calculations and supporting schedules
• Interface with brokerage and operations teams to obtain information and work with the Team Lead to determine accounting treatment of transactions
• Support Team Lead in implementing Bitwave in order to track company’s cost basis of internal crypto and to support recording of brokerage journal entries 
• Identify, recommend and implement process improvements and system enhancements
• Calculate brokerage commissions and trading gains/losses as well as prepare aging schedules
• Record cash and crypto activity and prepare supporting documentation
• Assist with regulatory reporting and creation of reports 
• Support and respond to audit and examination requests
• Perform ad-hoc cross-functional projects as requested

You may be a fit for this role if:

• You have 3-5 years of related accounting experience and a degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field 
• You have working knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance
• You have excellent communication skills, organizational abilities, and are a proven self-motivator 
• You have experience with Netsuite, Blackline, Bitwave, Sovos or similar software packages
• You have experience in the design and implementation of new controls and processes
• You have an interest in accounting for digital assets and evolving markets

Although not a requirement, bonus points if:

• CPA preferred but not required
• You have experience at a crypto or blockchain firm, or a passion for the industry
• You can write Python scripts, SQL queries or build data integrations into Google Sheets/Excel
• You’ve helped design custom finance and/or accounting systems
• Series 27 or Series 99 is a plus
• You keep up to date with the proliferation of blockchain and crypto innovations
