This position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer of a Joint Venture company between Medtronic and Davita. This position will provide leadership and expertise in the accounting and finance activities associated with complex matters, including revenue recognition, revenue-related accruals, and technical accounting. Building relationships at all levels of the organization and having the ability to effectively communicate complicated concepts to drive business strategies in an easy-to-understand manner will be critical to success in this role.

A Day in the Life

  • Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepares internal and external financial reports.
  • Maintains or oversees the control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, expenses, tax payments and income.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy.
  • Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss and cash flow statements, prepares and consolidates financial statements, and other accounting schedules and reports.
  • Designs, modifies, installs, and/or maintains accounting systems to ensure an adequate recognition of financial transactions.
  • Responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting and auditing policies and procedures and internal controls.
  • Responsible for month end close.
  • Responsible for technical support and accounting of M&A activities.
  • May oversee technical accounting research for complex business transactions and implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Coordinate activities of external auditors.
  • Manage the controllership team including employee recruitment, salary merit, performance evaluation, employee goal setting & career development. Lead, coach and develop team to deliver on departmental and organization goals.
  • Participate in special projects, including large and complex assignments such as transitional service/manufacturing agreements, business integrations, and system implementations.
  • Build and Manage functions including Payroll, Accounts Payable, Expense Report processing, Travel and Record to Report activities ensuring accuracy, appropriate controls.
  • Assess opportunity identify opportunities for optimization and transformation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of controllership processes.
  • Liaison and collaborate with business and functional department leaders such as supply chain, contracts & pricing, IT, customer service, human resources, legal & regulatory affairs.
  • Collaborate with business FP&A team on accurate revenue recognition practices and other accounting matters.
  • Oversee compliance of government reporting requirements including all tax requirements such as, sales tax & income tax compliance.


MUST HAVE

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience

NICE TO HAVE

  • Recognized accounting designation such as Certified Public Accountant or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team/department.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to operate within a fast-paced, matrix organization and various levels of management
  • Ability to manage and manipulate data to develop financial analysis
  • High integrity and self-confidence
