The Accounting Analyst will be responsible for performing operational accounting tasks, loan portfolio accounting, reconciliations, and other technical accounting functions. Working with a team of Finance, Investor, and Business Analysts in Phoenix and San Francisco, this person will play a key role in maintaining loan portfolio accounting, operational accounting and other close and reporting related functions. The ideal candidate will work closely with Investor Operations and Treasury to identify all relevant loan purchase and sale transactions, verify accuracy, and make recommendations to streamline current portfolio accounting processes and procedures. Additionally, this individual will work with relevant departments and business segments to ensure all expense, payable, accrual, and other month end transactions are properly identified and recorded in the GL system. Lastly, the candidate will assist with preparation, review, and distribution of interim and year-end financial reports to all relevant parties. Candidate must be capable of delivering high-quality deliverables, on time, with careful attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining loan and securitization portfolio accounting records
- Assist finance and accounting team members with operational and other accounting functions required by the business
- Provide timely loan portfolio information to Chief Accounting Officer and Management
- Work collaboratively, cross-functionally and interface with stakeholders and other teams to effectively and efficiently manage portfolio accounting
- Effectively communicate (written and verbal) technical subject matter to non-technical business stakeholders
Skills
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in public accounting OR 3+ years of corporate accounting experience
- Knowledge of GAAP; preferrable
- Database and data manipulation experience a plus
- Team-player with superior interpersonal skills who can work closely with both accounting teams and relevant business and management teams
- Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Sense of ownership and responsibility towards problems and solutions
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly and smoothly to a rapidly changing environment
