Position Summary

The Accountant will prepare account reconciliations and analyses to support accurate and meaningful financial information and assist in preparing financial statements and supporting detail.    

Essential Functions

  • Prepare account reconciliations with supporting documentation.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries to reflect business activity in the general ledger.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly internal financial statements and quarterly and annual NAIC statements, by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Assist with interim and year end audits.
  • Ad hoc responsibilities as assigned.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of five years insurance or financial services accounting experience

Job Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Understanding of US GAAP and statutory accounting
  • Strong problem solving and the ability to adapt to new situations
  • Interface with departments and senior management
  • Outstanding work ethic and passion for exceeding expectations
  • Highly proficient in obtaining, analyzing and synthesizing data into information
  • Detail oriented, accurate and able to work effectively under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to organize time and tasks efficiently with minimal supervision

Training will be completed onsite.  This will be a hybrid role after training.
