The Financial Systems Administrator is responsible for the project management, administration, and reporting configuration of several financial systems (ERP), with primary ownership of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. This position ensures the smooth operation and integration of financial reporting systems, adherence to statutory procedures, compliance with U.S. GAAP, and safeguarding of the organization’s financial assets.

This role is a hybrid schedule with two days per week onsite in Washington, DC. This is non-negotiable.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Administer and configure Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to ensure stability, performance, and data integrity.
  • Maintain security settings, user access, and system documentation following all generally accepted auditable financial systems practices.
  • Partner with Finance staff to support Business Central, JET Reporting, and Workday Adaptive – including their systems integrations.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support, resolving issues and training users as needed.
  • Lead Business Central projects from scoping through implementation and post-go-live support this includes gathering requirements, determining timelines and providing deliverables to ensure successful completion.
  • Manage the relationship with the financial systems vendor, including coordinating and testing all updates and escalating support as needed.
  • Oversee internal acceptance testing of new functionality and upgrades.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively address issues or inefficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and internal controls.
  • Participate in the yearly audit, providing all requested documentation and artifacts.
  • Serve as backup for Salesforce-related financial transactions, including donations, political contributions, IMPACT payments, and other related transactions, ensuring accuracy, reconciliation, and timely resolution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, MIS, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; or equivalent professional experience.
  • 6-7 years of experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or Navision/Microsoft Dynamics NAV).
  • Strong knowledge of Business Central configuration, security, and customization options.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Sylogist Mission (formerly Serenic Navigator), JET Reporting, and/or Adaptive Insights.
  • Experience with Salesforce Sales Cloud preferred but not required.
  • Solid understanding of general accounting principles and U.S. GAAP.
  • Familiarity with system integration tools and cloud-based ERP/SaaS platforms.
  • Proven project management skills, including oversight of system upgrades and implementations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Highly organized, flexible, detail-oriented, and self-guided.
