The Workday Engineer role is responsible, under general supervision, responsible for administration and day-to-day operation of Workday. This function plays a lead role in enabling thoughtful processes and solutions that drive efficiency, reduce the cost of operations and mitigate operational risk. This position participates in all phases of Workday implementation and ongoing support processes, including requirements gathering and analysis, functional and technical design, report writing, testing, deployment, and support. This role is technical in nature and requires Workday product knowledge, hands-on implementation, and post-production support experience. Lastly, the Workday Engineer participates in the establishment and maintenance of policies, procedures, and associated training plans.
Ideal work location is Raleigh - Durham NC. But also open to remote location within the US.

- Be responsible for systems analysis, integration design and development, testing, and implementation and maintaining complex bidirectional integrations in Workday and other data integration applications and platforms.
- Work in partnership with cross-functional teams, and the People Apps organization, to define requirements and ensure the seamless transfer of data within our systems
- Design integration architecture and data platform, propose integration development guidelines and recommend best practices.
- Developing new inbound and outbound integrations in Workday Studio
- Supporting and improving Workday integrations to ensure they're built for scale.
- Supervising integration error logs to ensure that things are working properly
- Gathering and analyzing integration issues to outline trends and creating action plans to resolve issues in a timely manner
- Creating dashboards and reports in Workday including creating complex calculated fields
- Testing of new system features and releases and evaluating the impact on integrations
- Provides technical consultation in development, vendor package system evaluations, and enhancement of new/existing systems
- Develop, configure, test, deploy, and iteratively improve product services related to the core connector, EIB, and studio integrations
- Independently analyze and solve complex problems
- Use critical thinking, experimentation, and industry best practices to achieve desired business strategy and measured outcomes.
- Responsible for all technical aspects of the product application lifecycle including code, infrastructure, data, and security
- Suggest improvements and proactively address issues
- Participate in training and development activities to stay on top of current trends and practices
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities to existing business practices, processes, workflows, and tools
Your background should include
- 5+ years of experience working with and building integrations with HCM systems in a professional, fast-paced environment
- 5+ years of experience building Workday integrations (EIB and Studio) and reports
- Experience building and maintaining inbound/outbound integrations in Workday especially in the payroll and benefits area.
- Fluent in XSLT and exposure to Java or Python
- Experience with Workday Studio, CCBs, Web Services & REST APIs
- Excellent report writing skills with a deep-rooted understanding of how to build calculated fields
- Analytical approach to solving system issues including understanding system interdependencies
- Proven ability to successfully juggle multiple projects and priorities and able to shift direction quickly when priorities change
- Strong sense of urgency and excellent follow-through
