Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of management experience.
  • Experience writing and reviewing technical documents (e.g., design, development, revision documents, reviewing code in compiled or scripted languages, etc.).



Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of software development experience in C .
  • Experience with creating system/product designs and leading them to launch.
  • Experience in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, etc.).
  • Experience with protocol buffers, unit testing, agile project development, and bug/change management systems.
  • Experience working with systems for collaborative code reviews, version control, continuous integration, and automated testing.
  • Passion for engineering excellence.

Google's Web Solutions Engineers innovate and develop software-based solutions for complex business problems. As a Web Solutions Engineering Manager on the YouTube Business Technology team, you will be responsible for managing solutions that make the broader YouTube organization more efficient. Your efforts will launch quickly and have immediate and obvious impact on those around you. You will lead a team that advocates automation, builds scalable solutions, and develops deep software engineering best practices.

In this role, you will manage an engineering team responsible for developing and supporting tools, prototyping proofs of concept, and writing/reviewing technical design documents to meet the needs of our services teams. You understand the importance of code quality and test coverage. You will interact frequently and closely with our stakeholders from around the world and across different teams. You will adhere to Google's software development best practices and work in close partnership with other project/product management and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow an engineering team with a business focus.
  • Design, build, and deploy scalable software platforms for teams within YouTube.
  • Ensure that all technical solutions are designed in a way that enable other analytical teams to easily access data for operational reporting and data visualization.
  • Collaborate with product engineers to enhance core platforms and create applications using standard and Google-specific software development tools.
  • Write and review technical documents (e.g., design, development, revision documents, review code in compiled or scripted languages, etc.).
