Job Description

Drive PennyMacs' Thought-Leadership on engineering and architectural practices and standards
Take the needs and challenges of a client and formulate the technical roadmap and technology solution that will support their business strategies and goals.
Provide Technical leadership across the Engineering teams, to ensure delivery of exceptional technical solutions
Formulate and articulate the technical and political implication of real world solutions
Orchestrate the management of technology scope and risks
Mentor on approach and execution of solutions, coach on technologies and establishing a team wide comprehension of solution capabilities and direction
Ensure technical expectations of deliverables are met
Be an inspiration of innovation to the client
Become a trusted and valued partner of the business and team
Exploit opportunities for networking and relationship building that arise out of delivery activities
Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization's desired culture and values

Ideal Candidate will have the following:

Experience working with IT leadership to create technical strategies
Experience leading and inspiring software development teams
Experience working directly with senior IT groups in an advisory role
Expertise in multiple technologies (including Java, Ruby/Ror/Python, .Net, etc) across software engineering, security, data interchange, data management, etc
Solid understanding of the practical application of agile development methods and leading software development teams in an Agile/Lean environment
Maintain strong expertise and knowledge of current and emerging technologies and products
Computer Science Degree or Technical equivalent, MS a plus
Must be highly proficient in Excel and Word
Must be a team player with strong attention to detail and able to work independently
Proven track record at delivering timely and accurate information in a fast-paced environment
Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical skills and sound judgment
Financial Services and, if possible, mortgage industry experience preferred
Strong business acumen and ability to interface with executive management

An ever-growing sense of belonging and support

Lilianne Tang wants Pennymac teammates’ understanding of diversity and inclusion to keep evolving. The best way to do that? Continuously provide employees with resources that increase awareness and facilitate allyship. Rich programming, like heritage month celebrations, a quarterly conversation series around DEI topics and resource groups have become launchpads for discussion and growth. Recently, Tang facilitated a panel where employees with disabilities shared their experiences and challenges. Events like this expand people's understanding of DEI, and why that work is so necessary.

Through DEI education, activities and initiatives, people will feel empowered to create change in the workplace on an individual, interpersonal and institutional level.

Curiosity and passion go hand in hand for engineers at Pennymac. It’s why Omri Gabay can often be found reading up about the latest tech and sharing his findings with his team — when he’s not building infrastructure-as-code or developing an internal platform. “We encourage innovation,” Gabay said. “Using new tools helps us push the boundaries of the modernization frontier.” With a stack that includes Postgres, Node.js-based microservices, Golang and React Native, the tech teams at Pennymac spend their days working with tools that truly excite them, without sacrificing reliability.

I’m constantly reading, learning and participating in technical communities online alongside my teammates. We also have linklogs where we post interesting ideas or developments that could help propel our applications forward.

What are some social events your company does?

Our Tech team has great events, including casino & trivia nights, virtual happy hours, gaming - we’ve even sponsored a video game tournament against our industry competitors! We’re nationally disbursed, but regardless of where people live, we’re all part of one interactive, linked community, and it’s easy to find others who share your interests.
