Job Description As Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will join an elite team of SREs driving technology's transformation by launching new platforms, building tools, automating away complex issues, and integrating with the latest technology.
Site Reliability Engineers leverage their experience as software and systems engineers to ensure applications managed by SRE are available, have full stack observability and have continuous improvement through code and automation.
Ideal Candidate: Professional software development capability that understands how to build software to safeguard customer experience through both resilient and reliable code and system architectures. This individual will have experience working in a development shop and participated in architecture/systems engineering. They will not be building features but designing/supporting the application stack
Responsibilities:

  • Development tasks like creating new resiliency features, scaling the system, refactoring and design patterns, and implementing code to improve efficiency.
  • Responsible for how code and applications are monitored, as well as the availability, latency, change management, emergency response, and capacity management of services already in and going to production.
  • Monitoring SLOs and testing them in pre-production with intelligent quality gates to detect issues earlier in the development cycle.
  • Deploying closed-loop remediation - continuous testing and remediation-to fix problems in pre-production before software is released to production.
  • Build custom tooling from scratch to meet specific needs in the incident management workflow.
  • Complex incident resolution across public cloud, private cloud, 3rd party, and on-premise tech.
  • AIOps/Automation/Design efforts for self-service, auto-detection and auto-healing.
  • Use Chaos Engineering to find and prevent future problems and to confirm fixes from past incidents function as intended.
  • Focus on end-user experiences, not just service up / down.
  • Partner with development teams to implement changes to increase uptime and performance based on empirical evidence.


Qualifications:

  • SRE mindset (Exposure to SRE tenants that includes - Observability, Monitoring, Alerting, Logging, Toil, Automation, SLO/SLI/SLA/Error Budgets )
  • AWS Exposure (Understanding and working experience in AWS applications, and understanding of resiliency, scalability, observability, monitoring etc,)
  • Experience deploying and managing services on modern platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Background as a software developer (Experience in cloud native, distributed application design and implementation), proficiency in languages like Java, Python, C++, Go, etc.
  • Automation examples and large implementation experience.
  • Observability implementations across large systems. Using systems like Prometheus, Elasticsearch, Splunk, Dynatrace and Grafana to solution.
  • Architecture and large application implementation experience.
  • Solid approach to design resilient and reliable application architectures.
  • Experience with databases (MariaDB, Oracle, MSSQL), microservices
  • Nice to have: Cloud certifications and experience.
