What the role is:

Socure is looking for a VP of Platform to lead our cloud and microservice platform organization and help us build its next generation. This individual must have expertises in leading and scaling high performance teams, capable of delivering infrastructure as code and microservices platform engineering best practices and technology needed for building and maintaining large-scale software products.

You will report directly to the SVP of Technology and will be expected to work closely with product engineering and product management teams, using your authority to influence changes. This is a key strategic leadership position, and you will be responsible for defining the strategy and roadmap for the cloud and microservices platform that will power all product development in the coming years.

What you’ll do: 

• Provide strategic leadership and direction to the cloud infrastructure and microservice platform teams
• Lead a team of Software/Devops engineers
• Lead by example, mentor the teams, and establish credibility through quality technical execution
• Recruit and retain top technical talent required to deliver services 
• Focus on reliability, as your consistent top priority is to ensure that Socure is always available
• Own the build & deployment lifecycle drastically reduce build, deploy & rollback times while simultaneously reducing risk and exposure
• Own the execution, tracking, and delivery of Socure’s SLA/SLO, as well as identifying additional KPIs for delivering a first-class platform
• Work with senior leads across Socure to define, design, deliver, and operate an integrated microservices platform that makes backend engineers incredibly productive
• Work closely with the product teams to understand their pain points and needs, then use this data to define the short and long term roadmap for cloud and microservices platform
• Assist and direct the design and implementation of our self-service microservice platform
• Enable the product teams to manage their own services end-to-end in a consistent way (framework, release process, capacity planning, observability, and so on)
• Build advanced deployment automation, allowing us to rapidly bootstrap complete environment in different context (multi region, multi cloud, QA, local machines)
• Define the standards and tools needed to guarantee the security of the Cloud infrastructure and all services
• Develop communication programs to connect the team with the rest of engineering organization and product organizations

What you’ll bring: 

• 10+ years in an engineering management role
• 4+ years in a Director+ role (org size 30+)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field
• Collaborative leadership with a proven track record of highly technical delivery in multi-stakeholder environments
• Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale services on public clouds such as AWS
• Experience building and maintaining 24x7 SaaS platform at scale, guaranteeing high throughput, availability, low latency, and security
• Experience building and maintaining microservice platform (release, capacity planning, auto-scaling, rate limiting, observability, and so on)
• Outstanding record of recruiting top talent, building diverse and inclusive teams, and setting high standards
• Excellent aptitude for automating operational workloads
• Expert technical skills in both public cloud (AWS preferred) and distributed systems
• Comfortable providing design recommendations and identifying risks and mitigation plans
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate multiple projects at a time, including proven ability to use resources effectively and efficiently
• A customer-first mindset and ability to communicate complex technical concepts with individuals across varying levels and functions of the organization
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges, while building and conveying compelling value propositions
• Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills
