Role Description

As VP of Engineering at HelloSign, you will lead the teams responsible for the development of all of our customer-facing products. You’re able to balance business delivery with engineering quality, have strong business acumen, are data and metrics oriented, and can balance a portfolio of short term and long term investments.

 

As a recent acquisition, HelloSign has its own unique engineering culture, technology, and tools. Based on strong business cases, you will drive the engineering team to adopt and improve on the best from both the HelloSign and Dropbox engineering organizations.

 

HelloSign is one of the fastest growing product lines at Dropbox and we need an extraordinary leader to scale the great work we are already doing and to accelerate us on the path to being a world-class engineering organization.

Responsibilities

  • You will lead the team in balancing urgency vs. the incredibly high quality bar expected by both our customers and the broader Dropbox organization, through clear and repeatable engineering processes
  • You will partner closely with HelloSign leadership across all functions, including GTM and Support
  • You will work closely with the HelloSign CTO and other engineering leaders to set technical strategy and direction
  • You will work closely with both the HelloSign Platform and Dropbox Platform teams, understanding their challenges and collaborating on their planning and strategy
  • You will partner deeply with Engineering, Product and Design leadership across Dropbox
  • You will create a culture of strong technical ownership, resulting in highly reliable products and services at scale
  • You'll foster a healthy and collaborative culture that embodies Dropbox's values and continue to develop Dropbox as one of the best places to work

Requirements

  • 12+ years of engineering experience in a medium or larger software company including 6+ years managing high performance teams
  • Demonstrated ability to hire and grow senior leaders and managers
  • Strong technical craft mastery and engineering discipline
  • Deep organization capabilities, especially in regards to influence, collaboration and communication
  • Growth or business experience and focus is a plus

Additional Perks + Benefits

In order to be successful in our Virtual First environment we needed to make changes that would allow employees to have more control over both where and how they work. Therefore, we embrace “non-linear workdays” with defined core collaboration hours that overlap across time zones. Beyond that, we encourage employees to design their own schedules to balance collaboration with needs for individual focus. We’ve also moved from “all day syncs” to an “async by default” culture, reserving meetings for discussion, debate, and decision-making, and handling all other work in our deep focus hours.
