Success in the Role:

You will understand enterprise customer expectations of the software support experience and judge your success by the success of your team and the happiness of our customers. Maybe you're interested in working directly with enterprise clients to replicate, troubleshoot, and resolve their technical issues, or perhaps you enjoy working under pressure, helping people in high-impact situations. Either way, you thoughtfully assist each customer by listening, connecting the dots, documenting the situation and solution, and engaging more experienced team members as needed.

You are interested in continuously improving yourself, our support systems, and products by taking training, reporting defects, and collaborating with engineering and operations to triage customer issues.

What type of work will you be doing:

In VMWare Tanzu Support, we are passionate about providing our software customers with the highest level of service. Gemfire/RabbitMQ is a small, specialized team of engineers from around the globe, supporting Gemfire data management and RabbitMQ platform customers 24x7. We believe in doing the right thing and working at a sustainable pace; typically, 8 hours each day with occasional weekend support rotations.

Our team members are all familiar, skilled, and/or experienced in some of the following (we do not expect you to check everything on this list)
  • BS Computer Science or equivalent in related field
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the analysis, design, implementation, and debugging of distributed, data-intensive, and/or object-oriented applications
  • Should be proficient in the use of Windows/Solaris/Unix/Linux systems and networks
  • Excellent analysis, troubleshooting, and communications skills
  • Proficient in at least one object-oriented language (past programming experience). Java, C++, or C# (strongly preferred)

Desired Skills / Experiences
  • Experience with GemFire or other object-oriented data management systems
  • Experience with SQL
  • Technical understanding of distributed multi-threaded data management systems
  • Understanding of JVM's, VM's, Heap and Memory management configuration and tuning strategies
  • Experience with RabbitMQ
  • Understanding of message queuing systems

Where is this role located?

Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable non-daily commute of the office.
