As a Vice President of Engineering, you will have end-to-end ownership of delivery, maintenance, and support of one of our most exciting Fintech sectors. Your responsibilities will include leading enterprise development of consumer applications and payment networks built to provide best-in-class consumer payment solutions. You will be responsible for planning and execution of infrastructure buildouts, cloud migration, cost management, financial forecasting, and every aspect of software delivery practice -- from estimation and planning to execution, delivery and support.
The individual must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy that includes a big picture vision and the drive to make that vision a reality. Deep engineering, technical and communication skills are key to success in this role
You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Driving technical strategy and direction
  • Owning software engineering, reliability engineering, system/solution/application architecture, dev/ops, end-to-end technology service and best practice adoption
  • Partnering with all parts of Optum Technology to develop, deliver and support high-quality software products
  • Transforming team to a DevOps model/culture
  • Driving Agile best practices with all stakeholders
  • Participating in the creation of technology roadmaps and architecture guidelines

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of software engineering leadership experience
  • FinTech industry experience in Payment and Cards
  • Track record of success leveraging technology to meet business objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with C-level stakeholders and external clients
  • Proven ability to establish effective working relationships with executives and key business partners to drive a change agenda
  • Demonstrated engineering leadership skills with a product development mindset
  • Experience leading a global technology team through other leaders
  • Track record of delivering high-quality large-scale technology solutions using Agile methodologies
  • Proven end-to-end technical product life-cycle management for applications and platforms


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PCI-regulated systems
  • Healthcare industry experience

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary/hourly range for Colorado residents is $174,600 to $332,200. The salary/hourly range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $174,600 to $332,200. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
