At Micron, we are passionate about SSD Product Development and Validation. We are looking for candidates with a sophisticated understanding of SSD design, PCIe and NVMe Industry knowledge, FW development, and Product Validation to join a niche team responsible for identifying methods of SSD feature testing! This team, located between Folsom, CA, and Boise, ID (however open to talent across all US Micron sites) is chartered with understanding Industry Specifications, motherboard architecture, our SSD architecture, consider novel test methodologies and develop out-of-the-box tests and methodologies to be used globally across all validation teams. This team will provide technical mentorship to Micron's global SSD test teams on how to ensure feature coverage, improve existing testing and expectations of new testing to be implemented.
Within the Validation Architecture team, we partner with our Systems Architecture Team and Product Development Teams to analyze industry specifications, product requirements and customer specifications to develop testing methodologies, improve existing test coverage, ensure testing coverage across all requirements, and to drive development of new hardware, firmware, and software requirements around new testing methodology improvements. We closely follow industry technology trends in SSD enterprise and data center features, next-generation features, and next-generation motherboard features and technology. You will work closely with Validation teams world-wide to review new industry requirements and customer specifications and translate the requirements to testing coverage impacts across multiple validation functional areas. You will be responsible to drive requirements into other SSD and Development teams, provide reviews and sign-off of those requirements. You will also be called on to use your expertise in the areas of NVMe, PCIe, industry trends in performance measurements, NAND trends, debugging skills, coding practices and analyzer techniques. There will be times where you will perform failure analysis and issue replication to identify special fail cases. You must be able understand basic coding techniques and proper embedded FW design.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

General Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with multifaceted teams to understand new industry features and validation requirements
  • Identify and define new ways to test Micron's SSDs to achieve "Best-In-Class" quality
  • Prototype development of proposed test frameworks and/or solutions
  • Analyze test architecture and test design; recommend improvements and/or enhancements
  • Drive requirements of new test methodologies into multiple SSD development teams
  • Coordinate testing coverage responsibilities between different validation functional groups
  • System level and SSD level debugging using software programs, oscilloscopes, bus analyzers, and other diagnostic tools
  • Install, modify and debug issues in Windows and Linux environments
  • Build and drive policies across test teams by interfacing/collaborating with other development teams


Support Internal/External Customers:

  • Provide technical support (e.g., failure analysis, questions, etc.) to internal or external customers
  • Provide technical knowledge and feedback to PCIe, NVME and TCG specifications
  • Represent Micron in standards bodies


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of proven experience
  • Deep knowledge of SSD performance metrics and industry expectations is required
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering related field or equivalent experience
  • Deep knowledge or experience using protocol analyzers
  • Deep knowledge of SSD design and FW development
  • Proven understanding of Python and C/C++
  • Understanding or experience with PCIe and NVMe protocols. Understanding of SATA, SAS, and CXL is a plus
  • Understanding of Security Protocols preferred
  • Understanding of Agile and test-focused development
  • Experience with Linux and Windows system configuration
  • Highly effective, strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced, dynamic environment
