What you'll do...
Every single item exposed on our site has to go through various checks, with multiple streams of item flow; managing the item constraints is essential for Walmart. This is a critical engineering leadership role that brings together your past engineering delivery experiences, people leadership skills and your abilities to build bonds with product managers, architects, other engineering leaders to develop global products at Walmart-scale. You will hire, mentor and lead by influence a world-class group of engineers across the geographies that are bound by a common Walmart-wide theme of creating elegant solutions for the complex problems and enable customers to save more and live better - every single day.

• The overall 15+ years of industry experience with degree in Computer Science or related field, online retail experience is a plus
• At least 7-9 years of leadership experience in attracting talent, growing, mentoring and leading software engineering teams
• Carry a strong sense of ownership and accountability, self-discipline, focus on quality, team orientation, design thinking, responsiveness, efficiency and innovation
• Proven ability to work with distributed teams in a collaborative and productive manner, communicating and collaborating effectively with others, promoting your ideas as well as being humble when you may be wrong
• Possess a passion for your team's vision/mission and the entrepreneurial drive to make things happen
• Experience in the full software and data cycle of requirements, design, coding/testing, rollout/deploy standard methodologies in delivering world-class software and services
• You are well versed with software and data lifecycle management practices, including deep interest in emerging technology trends within the industry
• Hands-on experience in at least one object programming language like Java and relational and non-relational database technologies
• Experience in handling and triaging complex production issues
• Possess solid understanding of building and integrating with stream-based and as well as RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL
• Exposure to Azure, GCP, Kafka, NoSQL based cloud-native databases and big data technologies
• Employed foundational software practices, including operational architectures, observability, reliability, availability and scalability

You'll make an impact by...

• Assess, recommend, build and integrate with best-of-breed, off-the-shelf commercial and open-source software components;
• Meet business needs, review and recommend technologies from global software providers, open source as well as in-country specialized products, for inclusion into the platform;
• Work with key members of the management team to define and drive technical strategy and architectural direction for the e-Commerce platform;
• Continue to review and provide guidance to Wal-Mart's e-Commerce initiatives in various markets (countries) and drive the design methodology of the software development process and ensure adoption within Wal-Mart technology partners;
• Provide guidance and technical help to the team members in backend technologies such as inventory and item caching, order optimization, order fulfillment, transportation, inventory management to introduce to the Global e-Commerce platform;
• Will also provide guidance in back end Supply Chain & Logistics, Fulfillment systems, and Order Management and recommend most suitable solutions for the market being implemented;
• Recommend engineering best practices, including use of java design patterns, code reviews and automated unit testing as well as collaborate, communicate with different teams, and triage technical issues across teams;
• Work with product and project managers as well as business to define product features, design deliverables and project estimates;
• Will translate business requirements and product vision into application architectural designs;
• Research technology trends and apply the results to solve business problems and develop solution prototype;
• Provide support in troubleshooting / investigations pertaining to the order management, fulfillment systems.

Skill Set Additions...

• KAFKA, SpringBoot, Reactive Java, CQRS Design pattern, Event Sourcing and Event based architecture.
• SQL, NOSQL Database experience, COSMOS experience is positive
• Knowledge of technologies used in building scalable, distributed systems in virtualized cloud environments.
• 5+ Years of experience in Object Oriented language like JAVA, experience in Reactive Programming is plus
• Solid DevOps skills in troubleshooting live applications, assessing performance bottlenecks of applications running on Linux
• Develop high performance and scalable solutions that extract, transform, and load big data
• Working with continuous development environments and decent knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
