About the job

This position is needed to hire, lead, retain, and grow a developing front-end platform team.

Twilio is building a team to govern and enable front-end software development across the company. This platform team builds software so other teams don't have to. We measure our success in terms of efficiency, consistency, stability, and observability. Our customers are distributed across the entire company, with an eye to open-source by EOY 2022.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Hire, lead, retain, and grow a team of 4+ software engineers with varied experience ranging from front-end to full-stack
  • Lead a process of iteration and innovation in how we practice agile software development
  • Collaborate with product and technical leadership within your team to plan, scope, estimate, and commit to initiatives
  • Communicate with leadership the metrics and KPIs for the team's delivery and performance
  • Negotiate, formalize, and execute guest engineering agreements, managing engineers embedded on other delivery teams across the organization
  • Actively collaborate with the Design Systems team Paste to align technical roadmaps
  • Maintain remote team engagement through virtual meetups and activities

Required:

  • 1-3 years of experience managing software engineers
  • 6+ years of experience in the software industry
  • Experience on a product-driven software engineering team
  • Understanding of REST APIs and authorization mechanisms
  • Participation or leadership in agile-driven software delivery
  • A healthy appetite for crossing team boundaries to unblock your team

Desired:

We're looking for candidates with experience with:

  • Jamstack architecture
  • React
  • Front-end software build and deployment tools and vendors
  • CI/CD in cloud or hybrid environments
  • SRE or DevOps in a distributed cloud environment
  • Leading or responding to incidents and managing PagerDuty rotations

Location 

This role will be remote.
Approximately 2 weeks of travel for team gatherings per year is anticipated.

*If you are a Colorado applicant:

  • The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is $127,960 - $182,800
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.


The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
