At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Mainframe Security Engineer Senior supporting the Rensselaer Data Center, you will be trusted to provide technical support of mainframe security in a large, complex multi-LPAR mainframe environment utilizing RACF, TSO, DB2, CICS.

In this role, a typical day will include the responsibilities below:

• Monitor mainframe operations to identify potential security violations
• Assist with maintaining overall system health of mainframe/LPARs
• Heavily support user provisioning involving mainframe TSO accounts/accesses (also, have basic understanding of Active Directory)
• Collaborates with infrastructure, technical, operations and application development teams to provide architectural security as well as technical security guidance
• Manages mainframe security certificates
• Monitors for security violations and addresses accordingly
• Advocates for security and compliance
• Support ongoing projects that affects mainframe operations (z/OS upgrades, etc.)
• Support mainframe operations within Disaster Recovery environment as required
• Discovers security control gaps and proposes solutions for implementation
• Creates, analyzes and updates technical documentation of mainframe operating procedures
• Follows and applies configuration & security standards (CIS Benchmarks) and policies using Change Management processes as needed
• Fulfills ticket requests via ServiceNow (basic understanding of ServiceNow is pertinent but optional as OJT is available via MyLMS/Udemy)
• Participates in 24x7 on call rotation

Required qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED and nine (9) years of experience with mainframe z/OS systems
• Or Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and five (5) years of experience with mainframe z/OS systems
• Ability to be proactive, decisive, and action-oriented
• Advanced ability to multi-task, to be self-initiated, and work independently
• Excellent organizational, research, analytical and/or problem-solving skills to evaluate situations, make recommendations, and take effective action
• Knowledge and skill in technical problem resolution
• Strong time management skills
• Strong communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Any mainframe certifications (z/OS Mainframe Practitioner, etc.)
• Any cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, Security+, etc.)
