As a Transport and Capacity Engineer II, you accelerate business by accurately analyzing data, forecasting network needs and executing on preapproved initiatives. You are passionate about creating efficient systems by planning, developing, implementing and managing inventory for leased capacity and numerous internal corporate clients for transport and capacity.

You report directly to the Senior Manager of Transport & Capacity Network Engineer for goals, guidance and assistance.

What you will do:
- Be an empowering member of the Spectrum Enterprise team by actively and consistently supporting all efforts to simplify and enhance the client experience.
- Drive the transport and capacity engineering process by prioritizing and coordinating solutions for highly complex circuit orders and capacity requirements for division and internal corporate clients while working with access providers.
- Develop and create required engineering diagrams for networking management solutions and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget through collaboration with Network Engineers and Engineering teams.
- Design and implement plans for interconnects with LECs and other carriers by working with Engineering staff at the corporate and divisional levels.
- Ensure accurate and efficient transport and circuit management functions through the development and maintenance of processes and procedures.
- Create reports for senior leadership to leverage indicating benchmarks, critical paths, resource loads, schedule slack, plan adjustments and evaluations of task force results.
- Mitigate risks by identifying project challenges and suggesting corrective actions to stay on schedule.
- Maintain all aspects of the network by coordinating bandwidth needs using accurate forecasting.
- Increase efficiency by coordinating projects and network planning support with vendors and access providers.
- Meet financial goals by providing billing coordination, verification and support to key stakeholders and corporate accounting.
- Support Corporate Contracts Managers by providing contract negotiations and project management support.
- Adhere to all established processes, procedures and policies
Required keys for success:
- Three years of program development and project planning experience.
- Three years of relevant transport experience in telecommunications or a related industry.
- Broad knowledge of circuit ordering for bandwidth requirements, including Fractional T1, T1, DS3 and OCX.
- Advanced knowledge of synchronous optical networking (SONET) ring functionality, testing and activation and IP transport and routing protocols.
- Able to cooperate and work with all levels of an organization, varied disciplines and degrees of technical business experience and external access providers.
- Expert in analyzing and interpreting data and project future connectivity needs based on growth projections.
- History of using local exchange routing guide (LERG) or other toolsets to analyze connectivity requirements.
- Deadline-driven with the ability to manage multiple projects, make decisions and resolve issues while working under pressure.
- Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings and fiber maps.
- Prioritization and organizational skills with the ability to work independently, show sound judgment and initiative to accomplish duties.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, project scheduling programs and mapping software.
- Effective written and spoken English communication skills with all levels of an organization.

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (required).
- Professional level network certification (preferred).

The pay for this position has a minimum of $73,100.00. The actual salary offer may be higher as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
