Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Traffic/Technology Engineer to be based in Phoenix, Arizona.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work as part of a team and independently in evaluating and applying Traffic Engineering principles,
  • standards, and criteria
  • Interact directly with clients at project meetings and ensure that all client project designs meet engineering standards
  • Interact directly with other disciplines such as roadway, drainage, structures, geotech, water, and environment to coordinate design
  • Adhere to project schedules and budgets and keep project PM/Discipline Lead aware of any issues
  • Lead the development of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) packages based upon agency
  • standards and specifications for traffic signal and pedestrian crossing control system design, ITS, roadway lighting, Signing and Pavement Marking, and MOT design.
  • Perform traffic operational analysis including traffic projections, analysis, and simulation using Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, and VISSIM
  • Analyze crash data to identify crash patterns and probable causes, develop collision and condition diagrams. conduct predictive safety analysis.
  • Perform photometric analysis using AGi32 and Visual lighting
  • Participate in transportation planning assignments, corridor studies, safety studies, and IAJR reports
  • Prepare technical memorandums and papers for clients and/or internal distribution
  • Conduct field reviews
  • Represent AECOM at conferences and professional organizations
  • Mentor entry level engineers

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + two (2) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • P.E. License (preferably from AZ) or able to obtain within 6 months
  • Master's degree in related engineering discipline
  • Four years of related experience or Demonstrated Equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience in traffic operational analysis including traffic projections, analysis, and simulation using Synchro/ SimTraffic, HCS, and VISSIM
  • Knowledge of safety analysis using HSM
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
