We are looking for a Test Engineer. This test engineering position is a hands-on role supporting test machines and staff and requires interaction with applications and product engineers, test technicians and contractors. It will require good technical skills, both mechanical and electrical/computer based as well as interpersonal skills and communication abilities both written and verbal to address the daily issues in the lab. The test lab operates equipment on a 24/7 basis within a larger global corporate testing group in which technical collaboration is important to program success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position is responsible for providing engineering support for the brake dynamometer and vehicle test activities performed at the Friction Products Technical Center.
- Lead test activities from start to finish - specification to machine execution to final report to customer
- Support the attainment of corporate goals for workplace safety and machine utilization
- Full time, in-person, day-time role in support of testing staff working on two shifts with periodic remote technical support of evening/weekend lab technicians as needed - (~1 hour/week) hands-on support of technicians in validating test set-ups and monitoring live testing as needed
- Possess or attain fundamental knowledge of Automotive brake systems
- Dynamometer testing (build-up, process, report creation, control scripts and troubleshooting)
- Vehicle testing (build-up, process, vehicle test driving, report creation, and script creation)
- Develop a working knowledge of friction materials through testing and analysis
- Develop working knowledge of manufacturing processes by traveling to production facilities
- Travel as required to support business needs
- Strong comprehension of mechanical drawings and engineering specifications
- Solid writing abilities for technical bulletins, presentations and reports
- Strong knowledge of gauges and systems of measurement - transducers, load cells, data acquisition
- Understand programming languages used for machine control - specifically brake dynamometer machine code
- Understand Excel and visual basic programming to generate reports for customers - review and validate test results
- Interact with customers and engineers to update on testing progress
- Assist in testing scheduling and prioritization
- Lead and/or assist in lab improvements related to process best practices, safety and capital improvement projects
Required Experience
EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Engineering OR Associates degree with equivalent experience in brake testing
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Strong knowledge of product line; working knowledge of engines; good reporting skills and use of PC.
- 0-5 years of relevant work experience preferred (intern/co-op/full-time
