As part of a team of engineers, the AEM developer at VMLY&R finds themselves as an essential contributor to the development of client projects. Our developers need to be more than just programmers, we are looking for problem solvers and technology enthusiasts. You will face the highest challenges by creatively finding solutions, adapting to unforeseen requirements, learning new technology and sometimes just plowing through. You will produce code that adheres to established development protocols and bests practices as defined by our technology department. You will participate in a team environment to determine scopes, estimate tasks, and promote solutions. Other key duties include evaluating emerging technologies, performing proof of concepts, documenting recommendations, and contributing to our constantly evolving best practices. You are a self-starter who balances priorities across all aspects of the software development life cycle, which encompass both support of legacy products as well as new greenfield development.
Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver web experiences on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
  • Collaborate with management, analysts, designers, and clients to identify end-user requirements and specifications
  • Develop complex AEM components, templates in AEM with Touch UI using Sightly/HTL, modern front-end frameworks such as Angular, React, Granite, and Coral UI Foundation framework
  • Participate in code reviews for ongoing projects and ensure code quality is at the highest level possible and uses appropriate design patterns
  • Produce efficient and elegant code based on requirements
  • Test and deploy programs and applications
  • Troubleshoot, debug, maintain and improve existing software
  • Assess user feedback to improve application performance
  • Iterate over solutions in response to client feedback
  • Contribute technical documentation to guide future development projects
  • Participate in peer reviews and review peer pull requests
  • Learn new technology practices to better support existing and future projects


Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of experience implementing AEM solutions, including features such as templates and components and configuring the web console;
  • 2+ years of experience working with enterprise Content Management Systems
  • 2+ years of experience developing web-based applications
  • Proven experience as an Application Developer
  • Familiarity with architectural styles and design patterns
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of Agile methodologies
  • Effectively work on multiple tasks against shifting priorities
  • Rapidly absorb complex technical and/or conceptual information
  • Anticipate issues and provide solutions for complex problems
  • Possess superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Multimedia Design, Graphic Design with certification and/or relevant coursework in UX/UI Design, graphic design, or related equivalent experience
  • Demonstrate competency of key Adobe CQ/AEM APIs and functionality (Sites, Apps, Assets, Forms, Commerce, etc.)
  • Demonstrate competency of web technologies (CSS, HTML, JavaScript)
  • Demonstrate the use of component architecture and atomic design principals
  • Demonstrate mobile-first development and responsive design and follows SEO and Accessibility best practices
  • Experience with CSS preprocessors such as Sass, SCSS, LESS
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Cloud, Analytics, Mobile Services and LiveCycle
  • Experience integrating applications with web services, including RESTful Web Services
  • Experience working within a professional services firm, consulting firm or agency
  • Experience with the most updated versions of front-end technologies
  • Experience with web architecture concepts (RESTful APIs, client-side data binding)
  • Experience with Git, experience with GitFlow is a plus
  • Experience with front-end build tools such as Webpack
  • Experience with testing frameworks such as Mocha or Jest
  • Understand and implement automated testing and pre-commit checks such as linting and style checking
  • Working knowledge of marketing, communications, advertising, or related field
  • Working knowledge of build and deployment automation using tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, etc.
  • Working knowledge of web performance optimization and is familiar with RAIL or PRPL
  • Working knowledge of server-side programming utilizing one or more of the following (.NET Framework, Java, PHP, NodeJS)
