Whole Foods Market is looking for a passionate and innovative TPM to join our newly formed Engineering Services team. This team will be deployed against some of our most complex and challenging projects and will deliver innovative technical solutions. We have an opportunity to revolutionize on-line shopping and set new standards for accessing the highest quality organic and natural groceries on-online.

As the TPM, you will be a key member of tech leadership and will need to drive forward the technology across Whole Foods Market to create a best in class online grocery shopping experience.
We are looking for a Technical Program Manager (TPM) with strong business and technical skills, great communication abilities, and a passion to use cutting edge science and technologies to help WFM.

Our team is seeking a TPM to manage large, cross functional programs and projects that support WFM. In this role you will be responsible for delivering large projects end-to-end that span multiple technology and operational teams. These projects will include initiatives such as rolling out new technology to new geographies as we expand, creating new technology to support new businesses and use cases, and otherwise building great technology platforms that can scale. In this role, you will lead large-scale re-architecture of our technology stack across multiple systems and teams. You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts, coordinating across multiple teams to develop optimal solutions. You will be expected to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.

The ideal candidate:

This role is inherently cross-functional—this leader will work closely with engineering, project management, design, operations, finance, legal, business development, customer service, and executive teams to bring products to market, develop and grow business opportunities, and enhance our existing products and features. A successful candidate will be highly analytical, resourceful, customer-focused, team oriented, and will have an ability to work independently under time constraints to meet deadlines. The leader will have a proven track record in taking on end-to-end ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. As a TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams
  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • 3+ years of technical program management experience
  • 3+ years of experience managing complex technology projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 4+years equivalent work experience
  • Experience with current web and service technologies and architectures
  • Proven experience working with senior leadership and experience defining and delivering on a product roadmap
  • Experience with software development lifecycle from conception to delivery

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in computer science or engineering preferred
  • Previous experience as a Software Engineer
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication
  • A proven track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects
  • Proven data analysis, problem solving and project management skills.
  • The ability to use both formal and informal influencing skills across Amazon's cross-matrix organization.
  • Possess excellent business judgment, strong written and oral communication skills, and a practical, common sense approach to getting things done.
  • · High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
