Commonly referred to as Product-Led Growth, or PLG, this role is key to defining and delivering technical capabilities to enable PLG across VMware globally.

We are part of the Digital Experience engineering team responsible for accelerating digital transformation of VMware's Go to Market (GTM), Customer experience, and Analytics by providing technical leadership to implementing scalable technical solutions for the critical business initiatives.

As a senior member of the team, you will have the ability to guide architecture, work hands on with an enterprise class modern application ecosystem and collaborate with an amazing team to deliver innovations that change VMware's trajectory.

What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

As a Technical Lead, Growth Engineering, you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of applications on the Marketing Ecosystem for Digital Web Experience and Marketing Operations. You will partner with other technical leads, business leaders, and product owners to design and build solutions.

You will have an experimentation mind set when approaching new projects, ideas, and strategies, to help the business A/B test their way to success. You will closely work with fellow developers across the Marketing Stack, maintain production systems, business & leadership communications, debug any production issues and get these to closure.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • Identify opportunities for experimentation, improvement and optimizations in various marketing systems and strategies
  • Lead and develop proof of concepts for Growth marketing strategies
  • Propose & discuss optimization solutions with Product owners & fellow developers
  • Contribute to brainstorming discussions, Design & Implement solutions for Personalization & Experimentation
  • You will be responsible for designing and delivering priority features by working with the key stakeholders, including POs, architects, other team members, and across geographic locations.
  • Understand the marketing ecosystem from a system, functional, technical and integrations point of view
  • You will be expected to design software and produce corresponding code with the highest quality. You are an active contributor of code, design wikis, code reviews. These designs and code must meet VMware and industry quality standards.
  • Identify automation opportunities for productivity optimizations


What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Utilize your extensive experience with Growth Engineering strategies to provide guidance, strategy, and develop solutions
  • Work with the engineering teams and product management to review and refine delivery requirements
  • Design and develop highly efficient code ensuring scalability, performance, security, and quality
  • Develop and maintain software that delivers on the team's objectives primarily in Java-based microservices on spring boot-based framework
  • Write technical design documents and hold reviews.
  • Drive and embody the "Dev Owns Quality" culture.
  • Provide technical leadership to the feature team. Lead design and code reviews.
  • Review and analyze production issues, break fixes, security & vulnerability issues
  • Keep leadership, stakeholders and other partnering teams updated about any production break fixes
  • Partner with product owners to understand Analytics, Personalization & Experimentation space in Marketing Ecosystem

This role will be reporting to the Director of Engineering for Marketing Technology and Growth who's responsible for the overall portfolio of capabilities across Marketing.
