Job summary
The Red Hat IT team is looking for an enterprise applications focused Technical DevOps Manager to join us in support of our internal Enterprise Business Application in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for the management of database administrators along with DevOps associates in support of applications like Oracle E-Business Suite. You will analyze current business practices, processes, and procedures as well as identify future business opportunities for using database administration and technical activities in cloud applications like AWS. You'll be responsible for the security, maintenance, and monitoring of enterprise database environments and supporting DevOps activities in the maintenance of cloud infrastructure, including products like Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. As a Technical DevOps Manager, you'll support a global team and provide regular updates to the management team. You'll manage relationships with software and hardware vendors to understand the potential architectural impact of different vendor strategies, ensure the development of proper training and documentation for enterprise-wide technical architecture, systems use, and maintenance, and plan and integrate for next-generation technologies. In addition, you will select, develop and evaluate associates to ensure team effectiveness and manage the team in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. You'll also be responsible for the project, platform, and organizational goals.
Primary job responsibilities

  • Support the technical maintenance of the Database Administration (DBA) team vision, strategy, and agenda through the use of Oracle EBS technologies
  • Develop and deliver DevOps-related tactical and strategic plans that enable successful DBA activities
  • Identify the right tools and define continuous integration (CI) applications
  • Manage a team that may develop and maintain Ansible playbooks for cloud migrations
  • Manage the team's effort to support platform upgrades and implementations of technical issues
  • Have oversight of the team that performs patches, change requests, and incidents
  • Support team's efforts in response to audit requests
  • Participate in platform deployment knowledge transition sessions to prepare and publish the automation strategy for the deployment
  • Display technical leadership and oversight of implementation and deployment planning, system integration, ongoing data validation processes, quality assurance, delivery, operations, and sustainability of technical solutions
  • Work within IT, cross-functionally, and with vendors, in order to successfully identify, prioritize, and resolve issues and provide subject matter expertise for enhancements, developments, and operational improvements
  • Effectively collaborate with other IT leaders, Infrastructure leaders, and business stakeholder teams to align on enterprise applications technical work efforts
  • Manage and communicate status to leadership, relating to resource allocation, software defects, productivity, and efficiency
  • Maintain tracking of issues and documentation systems
  • Forecast and perform analysis of team capacity and demand; identify role, skill set, and capability gaps and recommend methods and options to fill the gaps
  • Establish performance goals for all direct reports, provide feedback, and support individual development activities
  • Act as a champion for processes and tools as enablers for effective fulfillment at scale
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure regulatory and overall data compliance and adherence to business process controls
  • Stay current on industry trends regarding product support processes, technologies, and innovations
  • Identify and implement support program management improvement initiatives


Required skills

  • 5+ years of experience with delivering on projects as part of a cross-functional, cross-departmental team
  • Experience managing a technical team
  • Previous experience creating business cases, requirements, and process maps
  • Ability to create and maintain beneficial working relationships with multiple areas of Operations, Sales, and IT
  • Experience modeling or establishing the process flow of data between systems
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Detailed and concise written and verbal communication and documentation skills
  • Expertise in facilitating meetings, webinars, and conference calls
  • Experience in the business side and IT delivery of solutions
  • Effective time-management and relationship-building skills
  • Proven experience managing multiple stakeholders with competing for business priorities at varying levels within the organization


The following will be considered a plus:

  • Working experience with agile projects
  • 5+ years of DBA experience with Oracle Database
  • Experience with mid-scale (
  • Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite
  • Experience providing support for multiple global regions
