Mission Summary
 
You will lead the Test Automation Infrastructure team building test tools, harnesses and frameworks that support off-board and on-board testing. Your team collaborates with the organization to develop test strategies and processes and advance continuous testing and reporting. Accelerating the automated testing and verification of Autonomous Vehicle SW stack and underlying Platform infrastructure across multiple test platforms and environments directly impacts the ability of Motional to deliver a safe and performant autonomous system.
 
The Motional Pittsburgh office is located in the new Hazelwood Green development at 4734 Second Avenue, a culmination of the city’s goal of restoring an economic driver to the neighborhood in a thoughtful, inclusive, and sustainable way. With views along the Monongahela river, the Pittsburgh office is in the heart of this new state of the art development.
 

What You'll Be Doing

  • Define a team vision and develop and execute plans that deliver automated testing tools and infrastructure
  • Engage with leadership and stakeholders to build consensus on plans, gather requirements and drive user adoption
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and champion an effective continuous testing, integration and deployment (CI/CD) strategy.
  • Lead a team of 5 to 7 engineers setting SMART goals and objectives aligned with company goals and product milestones
  • Track and communicate progress towards goals.
  • Write and deliver constructive annual performance assessment and help plan and advance employee career growth
  • Support infrastructure across multiple test environments - software-in-the-loop (SIL), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), in-vehicle etc.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering, such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent knowledge and work experience.
  • 3-5 years of technical and people leadership experience to support high quality software development and delivery, preferably in AV industry
  • Demonstrated ability, experience and passion building and integrating test automation frameworks, tools or infrastructure
  • 5+ years of experience with software engineering, including requirements analysis, object-oriented design, design for testability, data structures, design/code reviews
  • Fluency with SW QA/QE practices, concepts, principles, patterns and methodologies 
  • Strong experience developing continuous testing strategies for software release
  • Strong experience with C++, Python, Golang (or other scripting languages) in a Linux environment

Bonus Points (not required)

  • Experience with autonomous driving, robotics systems or other distributed systems
  • Experience with safety certification (e.g. ISO 26262, IEC 61508, EN 5012X, DO-178B/C)
  • Experience with web test tooling such as Cypress, REST Assured
